Places to get a bite to eat.

I am looking for some new places to get lunch at. Mostly in the middle of the LI's north shore just not PJ. Restaurants and town would be helpful.

Not sure of the town but have been to Steamboat Landing a few times. Its in that neck of the woods. Very cool place.

Thats in Glen Cove. That is the western part of LI Sound. Definitely a nice place.

There's a place inside Branford Harbour, Crab shell in Stafford. If you run east a bit there's Mattituck Inlet with a resturant in there.

Black Wishbone 05-18-2009 02:05 PM

Dan/Ken is Mattituck lnlet right off the sound or do you have to go around the north fork like you for Greenpoint.

there are 3 places up the branford river. 1 nellie greens...big outside patio, nice food and full bar. 2 the lobster shack at the end of the river, byob, small but tasty menu, and 3 the place at the brewer's yard, it used to be called sam's dockside...maybe it's just dockside...$10 for 2hrs, but worth it. good food, nice marina...plus there are 2 gas docks, and the calm of the river is sweet after a LIS blast...

Just a heads up...

Coco's hasbeen closed for many years.
Margarita grill is not open yet and it doesn't look like it is going to be(I drove by yesterday).

Don't forget Captains Cove in Bridgeport, CT.

cocos in huntington is now called PRIME a steakhouse. went over ther last summer and couldnt dock because i needed a reservation.

JBOUTLAW 05-20-2009 08:18 AM

The next cove up (west I think) from Steamboat Landing there is a place called Louies that was pretty good. Huge dock.

ChristianGott 05-20-2009 07:13 PM

bkwsh...
yeah, the shack is a tiny take out place with really good lobster rolls...run by a lobsterman and his family...don't forget the 2 restaurants in guilford (still $10 to dock) the moorings and stone house... and the aqua in clinton harbor, as well as bill's seafood in westbrook, up the river from pilots point marina...you could make a day of "bar-hopping" marina style up the ct shoreline.:drink:

also, new haven's got sage american bar and grille, open evenings....milford's walking distance to archie moore's (great wings) but the harbor entrance is scary....b-port has dolphin/captains cove (i think you knew that!)....

This is some good stuff. I do know about the local stuff but it is good for everyone to know what is around.

I like to go across just because it is harder by car but I will go just up to margaritas if it's open which I don't even get the boat on plane to where ever.

Try Prime in Huntington but call for reservations. It there is no dock space just 100yards north is the town dock. Also take a cab into Huntington, a lot of good restaurants.
