Girl almost drowns at Claudios
 

I am sure that some of you guys saw this happen. It was around 4:30 and a girl fell of the pier at Claudios, maybe she was drunk and could not swim. Her boyfriend jumped in but was struggling with her. Me and my buddy jumped over the wall and went down the ladder and he had grabbed her arm,but she was struggling and he had to let her go. While this was happening he lost his sunglasses into the water. I grabbed hold of her boyfriend and her and got them to the ladder, he was to tired to help her up so I pulled thm up the ladder to the pier. My buddy still in the water dove for his sunglasses. The bouncer came up and said he had to leave for being the water. I told this jerk we just saved this girl from drowning and should be buying us a drink. Anyways I could go on about all the details but I could not believe they through us out after helping like that. I just thought I would share this story with you guys,hopefully some of you saw it and comment in it. 12 years I have been going there and it is not hte first time we have helped someone there, and this is how it goes. I will still dock there but I will never spend a nickle there.

Wow I was there and didnt eve know it happened. I had just sat down for dinner at that time.


About 1 hr before that a buddy of mine who had never been before asked me" man people must fall off this dock drunk all the time"


I have seen a few fall in the drink there but completely missed it today.

No sh#t Frank! That must have been right after we left, huh??? Going to send ya a PM about numbers and emails etc.

Jay it happened about 20 minutes later. We where just getting redy to get going ourselves.

Yea Jay, you Just missed it. The bouncer not only gave Charlie and Frank a real hard time, but kicked our whole group out !!! About 8 very willing to pay customers supporting a almost drowning customer, and we get kicked out ?? Frank, I think we deserve an apology, and a round of drinks for you and Charlie for saving Claudios from a possible law suite! The whole thing was....:bsflag:

I would call and get in touch with the owner and let him/her know what happened! That bouncer needs a tune up.

That really does suck guys. Been going there a long time too and one thing I've noticed is the bouncers seem to have a god complex. At lest you guys were able to help the drunk chick and her boyfriend. Thats the important part.

That's wild.... I agree with Audio, call the owner and tell him/her what happened, and how after YOU helped that YOU were treated like crap, plus all your years of patronage. If he is any sort of businessman he will appreciate that and make things right.....I will almost bet on it!

Well at least we have another great boating story!:drink:

I almost got a contact high walking thru the parking lot.

Great pic i can see my boat in the back......... way back. Heard about the story i left before it happend. Thanks to you guys all was well. Should have thrown the bouncer in and asked him to save himself.

Great first meeting of a bunch of new friends. Will have to make this happen more often. Hopefully we can recruit more OSO members for the next time. Im now sober,:ernaehrung004: and looking back on alot of funny s#!t that happened....I dont know about you guys, but now that Im getting old, it takes me AT LEAST 2 days to fully recover. I was never like this. But I am willing to keep trying to get my recovery time cut down. Practice makes perfect !! :ernaehrung004:

For what its worth I caught the last few minutes of this and then read this thread here and I called Claudios today and talked with one of the owners.
I explained exactly what went on and told them about this thread, they were very apoligetic and wanted to contact the people involed to make this right and she also explained they felt terrible it happened and for sure dont like their customers treated in this way.
4195 give them a call and talk to Kathy Claudio, she really wants to rectify this for all involved.

( and no I dont have anytyhing to do with Claudios, like you I just hang there)

I could just imagine the headlines. Claudios guilty of "overserving" drowning victim.

First let me say I love this site, another OSO member was there Sunday when the incident occurred. This person contacted one of the owners at Claudios and told them what they saw and then asked me to contact the owner at their request. I have to say there must be a reason why they are the longest same family run restaurant in the US. The owner was very apologetic about how things happened and was working toward solutions to keep this from happening again. As I said I have been going there for 12 years and enjoy it very much and I am very glad the situation has been resolved. As a business owner myself I know how hard it can be when you have employees. So I guess I will see you all at Claudios on Sunday right?

Yes I did the old 223LS, I seen what looked like the comotion over the girl and some bouncer being an ass-to be honest it was the second time I seen him being an ass, but who knows this thing could have happened just after I left and it would have been his third time being an ass.
I figured at least give the place a call, one to make them aware so it wont happen to me, two so you guys would at least have some kind of a say and hopefully all gets settled.
I started going to Claudios about three yrs ago when I first bought my boat, always heard of it and since I'm widowed with a daughter I figured I'd try it, better than taking your kid to the go kart track.
To be honest Suinday I had the best time there ever and was a little concerned when I seen a bouncer giving a girl a hard time about her small dog, then I seen what I believe was the after math crap of the girl falling in.
Again I didnt want to cross the line but I really thought Claudio's should know, hope it all worked out.
This place is a great site with great people and I enjoy meeting more at Claudio's.
I always said boaters are the best of the best.

Very happy to hear they "took care" of you Frank and gang...... I thought they would, once they heard the entire story. Like you Frank, I own a business, and totally understand that's it's tough to be on top of all your employees constantly....and once in a while a bad apple comes along and needs to be told "how to treat people who are treating US well".....IE.. the bouncer vs. the helpful customer!!!

Mike...I did not get a chance to meet ya.... but I saw your boat next to Ken/Dans and it looked sweet! I was there too and tied up almost across from ya, to Frank and Kevin's rigs. Sure we'll meet up soon....as I run out of Saybrook and do the River and Sound thing all the time.

Jay i saw you and was talking to JB on the side of you guys at the crab shack didnt want to bother you guys so BS'd with him a bit and walked about town 1st time there and conditions, weather and docking was perfect was was good to ill be back up to the river not this week but next weekedn. 8" is a huge lift Mike..... I had a F350 with 5" lift and 39"'s a few years back.... and thought that was huge!!! I have a 03 F-250 now and have good luck with it...hope you enjoy your new rig!
