Lake George, NY Ice Status Winter 2010
 

Lots of ice around but still the main lake is open for miles.

With the cold forecast on the way my guess is Saturday 1/30/10 morning we will wake up to see a frozen lake. Only if the wind dies off sometime. Late this year.

It was frozen last weekend but broke up in the wind and warm weather.

Cold tonight but the big wind will keep it open until the wind dies down Friday night.

Wind shifted to the north, big wind, 20+ out of the north, very cold, 5 this am. As soon as that wind dies there should be lots of ice, tonight or tomorrow.

Lightly frozen over this am. -6 degrees this morning, light wind. Should hold this time if the wind and temp stay low which they are forecast to do for the next 36-48 hours..

0 degrees, no wind this morning. Looks frozen in for the duration this time. Big west wind forecast for tomorrow but still cold. Then back to calm and cold for few days.

do they still have ice races 4x4 trucks and jeeps, I and my wife went undefeated back between 82 in 6cyl class truck, and two or three yrs in a row in v8 truck class unlimited tires, we did good in stock stud also but stock tires sucked guys used terra and paddle we had mudders .that was fun cheap racing in late 80s our club fell apart so I got into hp boats in 90 on. never had my boat up put if I get some mufflers for the new ride I hope to get up. we raced on a min of 9'' max was a lot think one year 2 or 3 ft we had a 40ft box truck on the ice with all our stuff. we were OLD COLONY 4 WHEELERS art.

I guess they still do the Winter Carnival in the village with races if there is enough ice. I don't know, I have not been to it in years.

they still have the winter carnival every weekend in February. They stopped doing the 4x4 drag races many years ago.

Ice held in wind today. Dusting of snow on top. I will report next as the ice is going out around April 1st. Cheers.
