I still have to work out a couple more details to close the deal. I want to make sure it has a fresh tuneup/oil change and full tank of gas. So far he's pushing back with nothing more than fresh wax... I'm thinking I might just have to come down a little more on the price. I think we're about two weeks out on closing the deal...

:party-smiley-004:

Frank, I owe you a drink pal for being a good sport. :drink:

Jeff, I would say 2 footers. Alittle calmer in spots. Frank called me when he got back to Old Saybrook and said 4 footers on his way back. We left a couple hrs later than him, so it must have died down. Still a fun ride.

We passed frank going out of LI on our way in so he and us had been in the same water. I dont think it was 4 fter all the time, but there were some BIG holes for sure. I was drinking some water to the tune of 1 gallon buckets and that doesnt happen to easy in a sutphen 31 with a MR MGOO windshield.LOL

Jeff,

Big enough to be fun, but not too big to make it miserable!

On our way over we were in 2' - 2.5', with an occasional 3' thrown in for good measure. On our way back, most of that was around 1' - 2', the bigger water being closer towards the LI side. What made it interesting was the fact that there were some that had pretty inconsistent spacing... both of you guys caught some nice air a few times coming back! :drink:

The wierd thing was The GUT was flat! when does that happen with bigger water in the sound?

AZZ BACKWARDS

You got wet?? That never happens in a Sutphen. We didnt get a drop of water on us on the way back!!

30ctsutphen 10-13-2010 09:21 PM

I was soaked I took so much salt water in the eyes I almost couldnt see going into the gut.LOL

It was partially the angle of the waves and the wind together. Waves were crossing starbard bow to port stern Wind was hitting us at starbord bow and we were splitting some of the holes over the bow tip.
I didnt really have allot of tabs in it either just before neutral. Running maybe 35 to 45 MPH through it IMO It was actually a really fun run through just WET.
My brother went through 15 minutes before in his 32 fountain fever and got totally soaked!

30ctsutphen 10-13-2010 09:36 PM

could have been worse It was pretty big though.

Not consistent at all either.
It was fun both ways going and coming back just very different. Sounds like it was small when you guys went over in the AM?

Excellent pics as usual Dan & Morgan. Had a great time running and meeting with the family of Sutphen die hards. Too bad Jeff & Christian weren't with us, would have made it even better. We have to make sure captain one eye doesn't get a Sutphen or were in big trouble!

That Mr Magoo windshield may not look too sporty, but I'll tell you it certainly is functional. On a cool morning with all the water spraying kicking up it's priceless!

BTW, nice riding boat for "only" a 30! We slammed into some pretty deep and awkward holes on our way out there and I never once thought I had ruptured a disk. And the smaller stuff felt almost as soft as riding in a cat. Great riding boat for its size! :coolcowboy:

Thanks Scot
I like thewindshield from the inside more than I dont like it from the outside.LOL

So I guess its staying around for a while.

Even if I changed it I dont think id go as low as the factory sutphen windshield.

The sutphens Do run and ride well. That was defianet;ly a wierd ride over. The most wet I have ever gotten in any of our sutphens even in bigger water. I guess it was just the right combo of wind and water to nail us.
