How about a CPBA event?

How about June 11th. Never really had a formal kickoff. I think most are ready for some gatherings. Who is interested? Also I havent seen any updates to the website. I am starting to lean towards using the one Christian put together. Its so much easier and appealing to use.

Justin,

First off, one week notice is probably pretty short notice to do something formal.

Secondly, I think Jeff and others are probably seeing some of the fundamental issues with doing things as a club... you have to be insured.

So I don't know what you have in mind, but if you're planning on gathering the boats and doing something as the CPBA, technically we need insurance and that my friend isn't cheap. ;)

if it is a gathering then insurance is not needed. we can certainly meet somewhere and raft, etc.

1MOSES1 06-02-2011 03:08 PM

to be honest there is no reason why members shouldnt be able to meet on a weekly basis. not all members always have to join. but there should be an option for people to participate if they want whether it be a raft, gathering, whatever. i.e. last weekend when everyone was supposed to go to claudios.

30ctsutphen 06-02-2011 04:58 PM

Yes some of the members of the CPBA will be getting together at a certain location on thier own accord.LOL

Hello all...
How about the 25th...? Free ramp, trailer storage, dockage, mooring, fireworks, food/ice delivery..2 restaurants...plenty of gas....clean beaches nearby...zodiac shuttles...
sound interesting?
call me 203 687 6688 I'll update www.cpba.weebly.com
tomorrow
20-25 boats would put the CPBA on the map (of the Sound, of course) any fewer...ain't no gatherin'...

I like next weekend maybe Saturday over to Claudios and we can get lunch over at BBQ Bills for dome pig out platters. Good but short ride not bad all to get there.

can any size boat go and not have a problem,

ChristianGott 06-03-2011 08:15 AM

Hi guys.
The annual fireworks are in Branford Harbor on the 25th.
You know how I feel about the area, already. I think it would be a great opportunity for a bunch of us to spend the day screwing around (beaches, bars, cruises, etc), and the perfect opportunity to showcase our stuff for a raft-up for the fireworks display. The Branford River does close down for the actual display, so restaurant, ramp and marina access is cut off for a short time. The best part is the fact that it's a perfect opportunity for any size boat to meet up. Drop in anywhere, Branford, Guilford, CT River, Milford, on the Housy....From anywhere the run over can be customized to individual taste...but once here, the Harbor's ours for the taking. I've got numbers for food delivery and can rustle up a couple zodiacs as shuttles from the docks/marinas....
could be a good gathering with a cool ending.

that sounds like it could be a good possibility C, Is there somewhere to overnight easily? Id have to get my lights working.

ChristianGott 06-03-2011 09:04 AM

The harbor, itself is an easy, safe overnite, there's also Bruce and Johnson's Marina, but I don't know the cost...fix them lights!

I can build a hell of a turbo engine but I am not so good with electrical.LOL

I hate it!

It does need to get done though, The fuse block conectors are push ons and that are loose, I need to get something better going on in there and everything will work consistently, Problem is the wiring is already VERY short so cutting the ends off would cause me major re wiring IMO.

BTW I ran into Randy on the river last weekend, He had his center console out. His buddy and his wife were dancing on the bow like maniacs.LOL

randys a good dude, gotta get them out there for the fireworks if we raft up and sleep over.

AbsolutOFFSHORE 06-06-2011 12:03 PM

I couldnt make a gathering on the 25th. I take the boat up to the RI air show every year. Always a blast. If anyone is interested in meeting up, let me know.

Let's do it. I think we should all make our personal plans/research with consideration to the day being spent running around and hitting a beach and a bar...a raft up for the night works for me, but there is also the full service marina for you bigger guys....if so desired...

call me if you want 203 687 6688

I don't mind a raft, or overnight, as long as someone checks the anchors, I have 2 fortress onboard at all times, so I'm set...

kreed 06-12-2011 06:50 PM

I think Im going to do this overnighter. Christian, I will be calling you within the next week...Kevin

30ctsutphen 06-13-2011 08:49 AM

Yeah, I think were going to be in on this too if I can get everything working properly before then, Already got the stern light up and working so were part of the way there.LOL

ChristianGott 06-14-2011 08:02 AM

The more the merrier.
I was thinking a late morning cruise through the Thimbles, lunch at a local watering hole, another cruise to hang out at a beach, then back to the harbor to raft up. We could put in an order to a deli for sandwiches, order pizzas, or just pack our coolers and fend for ourselves for dinner. I can contact the 2 restaurants and see which one would host us for lunch once I get a better head count. I count 7 boats so far...I'd be partial to 10-12+, keep spreading the word.
