Long Island NY Info
Looks like my company is gonna locate me out on LI for a little while to train and supervise flood adjusters for a while. One of the conditions is that I get to go home off the road before I go up there.
I would like to bring my boat with me. Any recomendations on where I can leave the boat and trailer at a good service facility where they would launch, then flush and clean it when I am done out on the central to west end of long Island. I have been drooling over doing some boating up there since I was working up there a couple of years ago. Also would need to be able to do maintenance etc. Also, how many more weeks, months of boating can I expect to get out of the area? email or PM me or post up here. Thanks in advance, Jeff |
Sorry guys, I meant East end. My navigation is a little off right now.
No ideas? :coolcowboy: |
The real boating season ends this weekend. Typically most of the 'good' boating is over by the end of Sept., so ther will be folks out for a while. Some folks will be on the water to about Nov. After that you have to be a real diehard!

I would say most put the boat away columbus day weekend.... that's normally when I call it quits.

Yeah, but where can I keep the boat? I guess it wouldn't be so bad to keep it across the way in CT either, but they wil have me pressed for time, so I want it to be close to where I am and full service so I can actually have a little enjoyment maybe.
Sounds like if I can run it till the end of this month it will be OK, because after that it will be time to make arrangements to send it to FL for Key west. I am still working on the deal, but I really want to be able to scratch this off the ole list. :coolcowboy: |
I know you are saying east end of L.I......but there are two places I know of that have rack storage on L.I. The indoor would be Al Grovers Hi and Dry which is where I keep my boat......not quite east end but it is in Freeport L.I. and on the South Shore which gives you many great options for different destinations.......a quick ride west will get you to NYC or you can head east to all the great spots on Fire Island and the Great South Bay.....the service is great and the boat stays CLEAN and PROTECTED year round in side the building.........when you want to hit the North Shore you just tell them to put it on the trailer and head to a ramp on the North side of the Island which opens you up to a whole new realm of great detinations.........the second place would be The Anchorage Marina/East Shore Marine in Lindenhurst......a little further east but still on the south shore.......this facility is where MRD engine builders is located......I do not know much about it except that they have rack storage......good luck with your re-location if you need any other info feel free to ask........

Jeff,
This should help you find something... http://www.longisland.com/boating/marinas.php I've never looked into full service marinas on LI, so I dont know what's avalible. Knowing the area though, I would look for something either on the inside or on the north side around the Mattituck, Greenport, Orient area. |
just thought of another one on the east end...... Strong's Marine.... they are in Peconic Bay......another great spot with lots of great destinations and they do rack storage.....

Thanks for the info guys. I am not re locating permanently, but I intend to try and take advantage of the location while I am here. Transportation is all ready being arranged, I just need to figure out where to keep it up here and it can leave home.
Any of you guys plan on doing any boating this month, get in touch, I could sure use a tour guide, and I gots plenty of beer money. :coolcowboy: |
How soon are you going to be up here? There's a PR in the CT/LI area on 9/17. That would be a great opportunity for you to meet some folks and see a couple of the local hot spots. It's not a huge event, but it's fairly cheap and a good time. Otherwise post up when you get up here, several of us run over to Greenport on a regular basis.
