Winnipesaukee Not Frozen
 

Ok, I'm a bit crazy . . as a Winni boater for the past 50 plus years, . . . this lake is not yet fully frozen . . . and we just had snow . .and my Donzi Corsican is easily launched and ready to run . . . I have this thought . . go boating in January on Winni, it's never been done before!! Make history . . I've never done that!!

In recorded history the lake has never been open this early in a new year . . and we just got snow . . so the blue water with white shoreline just sounds like a photo opportunity, as long as it's not windy . . .

It's dangerous! water temps are in the thirties, there is no one close by for a rescue should anything go wrong, but if it's flat this is a unique opportunity . . . imagine running the Governors Island Bridge at 70 MPH . . . shooting the Weirs Channel at speed (actually been done in a Checkmate, "Black Magic" about 1973)

I need a helicopter . . . my life is worth too much ! My Mom is going to check out a few ramps this Friday . . Alton is frozen in . . .so public ramps are the only options . . .

Bundle up and do it! Let the local fire department know as they must have a rescue boat they cold launch in short notice!! Don't have to worry about marine patrol!! :drink:

I was just out ice fishing on weds, I say go for it.

The second you fire up the boat on the lake and go over 40 you'll still get a ticket from the noise patrol... :angry-smiley-038:

It's too bad to see what that lake has become. :(
