eBay eXcuses

Jamie - you were right!!!

Yesterday I told Jamie my Formula 242LS was going to sell as a got a bid on the no reserve auction. He said "wait until you get the cash. You'd be surprised at the number of excuses you hear as to why the cant pay.".

Well, here the message I just got from the bidder:

"Please Withdraw My Bid On Your Boat Please. I Was Informed Yesterday That I Am Being Audited By The IRS And Now Have To Hire A Bull**** Tax Attorney To Handle This IRS Bull****. Thank You For Understanding."

:cartman:

Not sure if I should laugh, cry, get mad.....

I thought it was odd someone would bid without asking any questions or calling to talk about it first.

happens all the time and it is not just ebay it is everything people like to act like a big man by bidding on sh!t they have no intentions of ever owning wait a couple of days and file non paying bidder against him you will get your final value fees back and he will get a mark against him that no one can see but ebay and you cannot leave negative feedback against a buyer but if you dont do what i said he can leave negative against you

Sorry to hear that Chris, I was hopeful for you but as many times as I've gotten these excuses I assume nothing till cash is in hand

On larger dollar items I think a lot of this could be prevented by ebay instituting a non refundable bid fee. one time fee of lets say $50 for anything selling for $2,500 +
This would weed out the jokers.

That blows !!!!!

Update

eBay messages...

My reply to the bidder:

"Hopefully another bidder will bid more than you did. Otherwise, the boat is your's and you owe me the purchase price per eBay rules. Sorry to hear about your troubles with the IRS."

It was like an eBay poem. Open with a positive statement. Body of the message is the reality check. Close with an empathetic statement.

His reply to that:

"Sorry I Will Not purchase The Boat Under any circumstances"

I'm not allowed to advertize here unless it is in the OSO classifieds. :lolhit:

(I actually tried to put an ad in there twice and the website was messed up and would allow me to).
