Delaware river 2013

Anyone running sunday ? Im putting in in burlington city and running up around philly

Scabby Jack 05-24-2013 06:42 AM

I hope I can get in some time this weekend. Life's been crazy to include a robin building her nest on my outdrive. The chicks just left so I'm good to go now.

always in the river south of the Walt Whitman, coming this way let me know. Run to the Chesapeake Inn quite often or to Wilmington, also have a place across from the Navy Yard now called Coconut Grove. I was out there Sunday.

fireboatpilot 05-29-2013 01:37 PM

Not ready yet, ALMOST. Interior took forever. Need to change oils and clean her up. Next weekend I hope?

Scabby Jack 06-02-2013 09:27 PM

River has sure been rough. Was out today with the family on it.

Scabby Jack 06-10-2013 05:39 PM

Ran from Delran to Commodore Barry Bridge Sunday. Once you got south of Philly the debris from the storm cleared out. Very nice day for a cruise. I was surprised there weren't as many speed boats running.

Ron4wrecks 06-15-2013 10:35 PM

Thinking about taking a ride tomorrow . I hear theres a ton of debris tho ?

Scabby Jack 06-16-2013 07:58 AM

I'll find out later today. Never made it out on Saturday.

Scabby Jack 06-17-2013 05:54 AM

River was no good Sunday. 4' waves and lots of railroad tie size debris. Hopefully next week is better.

I saw you head out yesterday......then come right back in. I was at dredge having lunch. The river was a mess.

what power is in your boat ? It sounded healthy.

Scabby Jack 06-20-2013 10:40 PM

500 efi with dry exhaust. Had my buddy's kids on board and didn't want to ruin them with a real bad ride.

Ron4wrecks 06-21-2013 12:15 AM

Got to love the dry exhaust ! The river was so bad last sunday ! Huge trees and saw tires with rims floating ! Atlantic city this weekend for the race

Scabby Jack 06-21-2013 04:59 PM

It was the worst I've seen it in a long while...

KEVLARKAT32 06-22-2013 09:08 PM

Any Sat river debris updates ?

fireboatpilot 06-22-2013 09:11 PM

Ran the fireboat down from Philly to Baltimore for repairs. Haven't seen the river so loaded with debris in a long time. Larry is your skater ready to go or are you running something else?

KEVLARKAT32 06-23-2013 07:55 AM

I have a 24 slickcraft and also a 24 Sea ray which is almost ready . How did you make out with the hatch ?

fireboatpilot 06-23-2013 09:56 AM

No time, no time, haven't touched it but it will work out just fine. So busy my boat hasn't touched the water yet. Trying for the 4th, we'll see. Looking forward to seeing you out there, pretty boat. Keep your eye out for another skater hull needing power, lol. NO OB's LOL!

One of the many reason's I left the river life and headed east 3 years ago. Got tired of dodging tree branches/trunks, propane tanks, and plastic shopping bags floating down river. Other then convienent proximity of the river to home and the fact that its freshwater, I'll still gladly trade the constant yellowing of the hull, sticks through my bellows, and smelly muddy bottom for the tiki bars, sandy bottoms, and saltwater of the jersey shore.

Anyone ever consider a delware river weekend down the shore? Just to see how the other side of the state lives? Maybe even convert a few. A few delaware river boaters I know (Ron 272 Formula & Bill 32 Sunsation) have made the trip across state. Would be nice to have a few more for a day or weekend and reminisce of the D-River days. I know of several great marinas in the area that can accomodate pretty much any body/families needs.

Think about it and let me know.

Split

So far this has been a pretty slow season for me boating wise. I've only had it out once so far for a shake down run, 1hr. Between work and this wonderful HEAT it's horrible! Heading out for the afternoon tomorrow, hopefully it will be slightly cooler than it's been? Any debris updates for the upper Delaware River? Whats the upper Chesepeke Bay been looking like? Usually if the river is loaded the bay isn't much better. Split, I'd rather tow for 45 mins to the upper bay than 3 hrs or more to the shore, traffic sucks. Unless I knew where I was going and had someone to show me around the hot spots?

I should be out after lunch tomorrow like 1pm, don't get off work and home until 10am or so and have to fuel up and loaded before we hit Neshaminy ramp. Flag me down if you see me, probly anchor up in Tully cove for a few hours.

Splitdecision271 07-20-2013 02:52 PM

I boat out of Forked River NJ. It's only an hour tow. I do it twice a year to and from the Trenton area. I keep my boat down there all summer long. Many park and launch marinas on the river. We got a run planned down to AC on the 26th. It's an hour and change run inlet to inlet out of barnaget. Def more options for things to do and places to go. Just depends on what ur interested in.

Is anyone breaking skegs? 2 times out and 2 broken skegs, This is making me nuts. I am even walking the boat on the trailer. I have been on the river for years. Something has to give

Ron4wrecks 08-05-2013 08:25 PM

Not broke but bent >

Scabby Jack 08-24-2013 06:35 PM

Just barely missed a big limb today. Too close a call for sure...
