Spot to hangout on Sebago and put in
 

Heading to Sebago in two weeks. Have 353 fastech. Staying on long lake. Where's the best spot to put in w a boat that size and are there any good sandbars everyone hangs out at ? Thanks in advance

Sebago sand bar at the mouth of the Songo is always a good time. as far as ramps on long lake I cant speak to a public ramp however, any of the marinas in Naples will be able to accommodate your boat and parking

As twin said, the mouth of the Songo is probably the best place to hang and where you will see the most boats. The beach is nice too if you are into that, but you will have to travel the river and deal with the lock, which will take you about an hour. I enjoy this, but others don't so much. I also like the center of Naples at the end of the channel to the right just as you are entering Brandy Pond. No beach, but there is about 2' of water and it is nice and sandy.

The State park is easy and deep but not really convenient to Long Lake. Stay away from the Naples public ramp, it is very shallow and has a deep hole. The easiest marina to maneuver in and out of is probably moose landing. I've never put in on the north side of Long Lake, but there is a public ramp in Harrison as well as Bridgton. I think Full Whack has, maybe he can chime in.

thanks for the advise. ive never boated up there in he opinion of people who have would it be easier to just trailer from naples to somewhere near the north end of Sebago, if so what ramp. thanks

You don;t want to haul that boat to the Bridgton ramp off Kansas Rd. Your best bet is to pay and use Moose Landing on Brandy Pond. They'll let you store your trailer there also.

If you don't want to leave it in and would prefer to trailer it, the ramp at the state park would work and it is right at the mouth of the Songo, but I would just leave it in if you have a place to keep it and do the river trip a couple of times. Agreed on Moose landing, they have plenty of room. The river trip is nice, feel free to PM me if you want more info and make sure you wave on your way by, we are on the river.

moose landing is a great place to Launch. I keep my scarab there and they have a real nice launch with tons of tie up space!

Thanks guys. I'm gona for moose landing. When I launch from there can I go right under that bridge to long lake. Staying on long lake they have a dock so trailer storage will be key. No room to park. I'll be out there Saturday.

If you have never been down the Songo River and through the locks, you will not find that very pleasing the first time. First time through is very stressful, unfamiliar to anything you have seen, and usually full of rental pontoons and/or drunk boaters that dont give a rats ass about bumping boats. They pile as many boats as possible in at once. However, once through and out of the river, Sebago is awesome and the State Park will have the beach scene you are looking for. The lock opens at 8am. If you get there first, you will have a much easier time, but still need to watch what you are doing. Also, the river has lots of shallow spots, so you need to watch what you are doing. Wardens hang out, so make sure you have life jackets on board, etc.
Long Lake does not really have any beaches, but they do have the town dock and lots of restaurants and nightlife that Sebago has none of. Depends what you want to do I guess. And how adventurous you want to be with your boat.
