Haven't met a good one yet up here, I do pre purchase inspections to whatever extent the buyer wants but am not a certified surveyor for insurance purposes.

The last person I used which probably goes back 10 years was Richard W. Brendlinger Marine Surveyor, PO Box 1224, Newport, RI. 02840, 401/423-2774. His e-mail is/was [email protected]. On the last page of my survey he had listed 2 organizations that he was a member of. If this guy is no longer around this may help you find somebody. Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors and American Boat and Yacht Council.

Yup, I was familiar with SAMS so I took a look at the Maine and Nh members, read som bios, made a call and got pretty lucky talking to a guy down in Nh who has some good contacts for one of the boats I'm looking at.

Atlantic Marine, Barrington R.I.. 401-524-1700. Steve is a personal friend of mine and has been doing it for years. He use to have a Magnum Starfire and still owns a Donzi 22 Classic. Good guy and a hot ****! Hope this helps.
