Lake George Freeze up
 

FYI, Lake George main section frozen up the night of Feb 9th and was frozen over by morning Feb 10th. Still there despite the big winds. Village has been frozen for longer of course.

Should be gone by Monday week.

Just hope when the ice goes it doesn't take my dock with it.

Do you have the yellow 22 just south of the main beach dock in Bolton

This is my concern every year.. Lots of damage potential when it goes out in a month or two..

Red Aronow 22 classic just south of Canoe Island Lodge. I have seen you around . My son and I are always out on the lake, My son wants a Pantera now.

I have Red 22 hanging on hoists in a boathouse on the East shore up near PK Marina.

OK. I've seen your boat at dock, guess we've never met. Reason I asked, I'm rebuilding the drive for a the yellow 22 that's just south of you.

Hiding in my garage.

That yellow one is about half way down to Fishers I believe, just south of Elizabeth Is., nice boat, early 2000s I think. Wonder why it needs the drive rebuilt?

Must have had water in it at one time and looks to be run hard oil severely burn. Gears pitted and bearing warn. Not working at marina or other shop anymore gone back into retirement mode, life flying by to fast. I still do his drive work at my house and go over there for specialized jobs. But not to often. Got a new boat this fall so will be out on lake a lot more this summer. Sold the Powerplay last winter and was boatless last summer. Took me over a year to find something I liked. Landed up with a 27 Fountain

Single or twins in your new fountain? Where did the old Powerplay go?

Single engine. The Powerplay went to Connecticut

Any photos of the lake frozen over? We brought our 26' Scarab up for a couple visits a few years ago and stayed at Bonnie View. We are thinking of bringing our 353 Fastech up this summer...is this realistic or just too big? And if ok, where can we stay that will accommodate the size of our boat...also where can we launch it?

The town ramp is beautiful. You could launch anything there. Also Norwall and Fischers on the east. There are a few places for overnights with room for the boat. Maybe Ricky can help out with names

Bad monkey. 35 is a perfect size, water gets very sloppy on weekends from boat traffic, and if there's any wind you'll be glad you got the extra leight. Like Claas6 said new ramp at Million Dollar beach is excellent, I have used it many times to launch my 33 Powerplay. Only problem with ramp at Million Dollar beach there are only 25 spots for truck and trailer parking,if lot is full you can still launch boat, just can't leave truck and trailer. Best part it's only $10 to launch and park. If decide to use that ramp and trailer lot is full get a hold of me and you can dump trailer at my house and take truck,back and park it without trailer, I live within two miles of ramp and have plenty of room for trailers. Fischer's ramp is closed on weekends & Holidays. Treasure Cove is about three or four miles north of village on the 9N ( the Bolton-LG side on lake). The owner John has a ramp and parking, when they use to have Poker Run up here lot of the guys stayed there and where happy. There are many motels with docks, so if you something and they don't have room for trailers your welcome to leave it here while on vacation. It's my home base as well and there are bigger and faster boast than mine on it every weekend

Let me know if I can help. The lake gets a bad rap because of speed limits and noise limits. Ive been boating here my entire life. Never been stopped, never had an issue. You will need mufflers and as long as you dont run it like an idiot, you will be fine.

I do not have mufflers...guess I can get some...I love Lake George...boating there when I was a kid from South Londonderry, VT. I will stay in touch and let you guys know our plans...What is the decibel limit for exhaust? I can't remember from the last time we were there with the Scarab...I do remember the speed limit. The lake is to beautiful to fly on it...you miss the scenery.

Welcome to LG! If we can help in any way let me know! The decibel limit is the same as all NYS waterways, 90Db at an idle. If you have mufflers(or silent thunder) you'll probably be fine. It may not technically pass, but you wont have a big red target on your back. Basically, open pipes are a no. The speed limit is still 45, but if you're smart don't be afraid to give it a little poke if nobody is around, especially up north. Go flying through a busy bay on a weekend, expect trouble.

Not this year no

Well, the ice went out yesterday, Feb 25th. All the warmth and huge wind did it in...Main lake open and ready for boating..

And i got away with my docks still in place.

I am over on the Great Sacandaga. Wouldn't mind running around Lake George one of these weekends. Any planned events on the lake this year?

Donzi Dust off Fathers day weekend. It's a 2-3 day event. lots of fun and good people.

Don't forget about Oneida lake. No speed limits or exhaust restrictions. 3 mile bay is a good spot to stop, no houses around, boats only. Fun run every year 3rd weekend in September, a lot of big cats come.

From what I was told that is for classics only. I have a ZX hull, any other guys hang out?
