Here ya go Frankie...maybe it was the explicit content that kicked you back! :D

The Rev Limiter
March, 2006
Sort-of Official Publication of
The Chicago Powerboat Club

Welcome friends and fellow boat-nuts, to another edition of what will hopefully soon be tradition: the CPC Newsletter. Those that have been paying attention will note that last month’s impromptu blurb was titled “The Marine Forecast,” whereas this month and subsequent months will be “The Rev Limiter.” The reason behind this had a lot to do with our fellow denizens of the waterways…the sailboaters. We all use the marine forecast, in fact, they probably use it more than us. But they don’t have rev limiters. We do, and we like to hit them, thus the name (you may find yourself wanting to hit this letter as well, so just go right ahead and do it). Now, on with the show!

CPC Spring Fling

DON’T BE A FOOL ON APRIL FOOL’S DAY!!
JOIN THE CHICAGO POWERBOAT CLUB
TOUR OF THE FORMULA PLANT
IN DECATUR, INDIANA.

Break out of the not-quite-warm-enough-to-boat blues by rubbing elbows with fellow powerboat enthusiasts on an April 1st tour of the ultramodern Formula pant. The tour has been organized by Vic Spellberg, and will showcase the company’s 800,000 square foot facility. Formula’s long-standing tradition of excellence in the offshore world will be on full display, with features like an in-house water-test area and the recently purchased assets of the Miss Budweiser Hydro Team, which will be flying the Formula colors this year. Tour time will be from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Don’t be late and miss the boat(s)!

Mark Smith has procured a special rate at the local Amerihost Inn for those interested in making it a weekend getaway, and he has also organized a dinner at the Back 40 Junction Restaurant, where we’ll have our own room for eating, drinking and raffling some offshore swag.

REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY FOR THIS EVENT! You may register at , and you DO NOT have to be a club member (although we’d love to have you!).
http://cpc.clubexpress.com/content.a...2&item_id=5913
No fee will be collected upon registration, but we will need a number verification to give to both Formula and the restaurant, so please register as soon as possible, and book your stay. Directions are available by clicking the Mapquest icon on the CPC site.

Amerihost Hotel (ask for Formula discount) $49.00 per night
260-728-4600

Back 40 Junction buffet dinner $20.37 per person
Includes: Your choice of prime rib, ham, turkey, smoked BBQ brisket, chicken, white fish, or shrimp and beverages.

The Chicago Boat Show

A major club “Thank You” to Mark Smith and Wally Wojcik for organizing another memorable event. A further huge debt of gratitude is owed to our generous sponsors, Shogren Performance Marine and Livorsi Gauges, without their support we’d be dead in the water. Please demonstrate your appreciation by showing them some love whenever you get the chance (figuratively speaking, of course!).

Mark, Dan Vasta, and Frank Holas held down the fort at our Chicago Powerboat Club booth at the show…and from the looks of things, I don’t think they had all that much down time! On Saturday, the booth and the Shogren display crowds were backing up into the aisle, due largely to the next people we have to thank, Reggie and Wyatt Fountain. As always, both Fountain figureheads were extremely generous with their time, meeting and greeting countless fans…heck, some Cigarette owners were even seen standing in line, but don’t worry, your identities are safe!

The post-show party on Saturday night was also a great time. Some 100 club members, spouses and friends enjoyed a private banquet at Dave and Buster’s with good food, plenty to drink, and a fine speech by Reggie. Several club members were seen afterwards competing in a head-to-head-to-head offshore boating video game, but their driving was pretty frightening to behold…perhaps the adult beverages were to blame?

Additional Club Information

In the likely event that this newsletter just doesn’t satisfy your insatiable appetite for Chicago Powerboat Club information, you can use the wonders of the Internet to keep tabs on everyone’s boating business. You may hit our club site at www.chicagopowerboat.com and browse through some pictures of club member boats (and club members), check the event calendar, post some pics of your own, or sign up for our events. Also, you may find many of us in real time at www.offshoreonly.com. The site sponsor has been good enough to give Chicago Powerboat Club it’s own forum, where you can read insightful thoughts from fellow club members or post your own brain droppings.

REMINDER:
The Second Annual Chicago Powerboat Club Poker Run will take place at East Chicago Marina and the Resorts Casino on July 21st and 22nd, so be sure to plan accordingly!
