I Pass

Can I use my I Pass that is set up for my truck hauling my boat traile?. My trailer is a tri axel. Is there a special designation for trailers? I am planning on running down 294 next friday.

Thanks,

Andy

You sure can. I do it all the time and was told that they will just charge you for the extra axels on the trailer. I have not hade a problem in 2 years with doing that. Just run through the Ipass lane you dont have to go to the cash lanes either.

Thanks,

Can you go through the middle lanes where you are running close to the speed limit or do you have to go to lane by the tolls boths??

Thanks again,

Andy

Can I use my regular I-PASS when I tow a trailer or drive an R.V.?
Yes. In fact, the new technology in the Open Road Tolling lanes will automatically calculate and deduct the proper toll. You no longer need to use the cash lanes or purchase a special transponder

From the IPass website...

Sure can, Just run right down the center and don't stop. :D

I stopped at the Toll Authority and asked this very question. The critical part is the truck or car must be registered to the transponder and you can have more than one vehicle on a transponder. The trailer will be calculated automatically. Not sure how they know....

You can actually call and argue with them over charges......they had a piece on one of the local News stations a little while back....apparently people have been getting hit with extar fines when other are too close bihind them and the system registeres it as a trailer instead....

Sure, I’d trust the state of Illinois to charge me correctly!
