Illinois Title Issues
 

Well as most of you know I sold the boat back in June to an out of stater'. Bank of the West/Essex Credit, somehow lost the title. My buyer has been waiting since June for a title. All he has is a trailer title. The lenders contacted the state for a duplicate title. Still nothing, right now I am so frustrated with the state and the lenders. The state and everyone have been giving me the run-around when I inquire. How long should a title take? Anyone here have any contacts with the title department that would help?

Damn dude...wish I could help, but only have a similar story. The state of IL is so far behind on this stuff it's amazing. When I bought my boat, it took them so long to get the title situated for both boat and trailer, I had my lending institution calling me weekly saying they needed that stuff...I was making payments on a title they didn't even have yet! Took them a good three months for the boat, and about 4 or 5 for the trailer.

On The Bottom Of The Illinois Form There Is A Spot To Fill Out And Sign And You Will Need A Letter From The Bank Showing Its Paid For
But I Dont Know If This Will Do Any Good With The Boat Leaving The State

Well an update, the lender spoke with one of those two people. The story goes that they will turn out a title in a week...The lender will then forward the title to my buyer by mid next week.
