There will be a registration barge clearly marked to go for registration open at 10AM, All boats must register that are running. Helmet, life jacket and kill switch required. Full list of rules are on our club website www.nioffshore.com. You can register anytime during the event 10am-3pm.
The Chain-O-Lakes requires a use pass that is strictly enforced. If you are "running" (not spectator) in the Shootout you will be exempt on the way there and back. If you get stopped let them know you are a participant in the Shootout. Pleasure boating requires the Waterway permit.
Spectator boats have Facebooked they are going to be there at starting 7AM.

Grew up on the Chain, it's a great set of lakes...Brad is right, about 6-8' everywhere you go and all muck on the bottom. I still wouldn't bring your best props, we smacked a washer or refrigerator out there a few years back with our Donzi. Some folks apparently use the lake as a dumping ground. Should be a fun weekend, wish we lived closer or we'd be there for sure.
Hope you guys have a safe fun weekend out there.

Wish you had replied to my 5/24 post sooner - we might have planned for the event.
You are hearing from people who are looking at killing this event. Very negative people. Where we are running in the center of the lake is plenty deep at 6 to 8'. Where they run the 1/8 mile drag races on Thursday nights north of the Island is only 4' deep. We are going down the middle of the lake one mile course and a one mile shutdown if needed There are 47 Fountains with triples that run that lake with NO issues. I have run my MTI for years out there. I have never even dinged a prop in 20 years on Grass Lake. There is nothing to hit on Grass Lake as the bottom is all muck even if you stray off to close to shore.
