39 Express
Who owns the 39 Express headed west on a trailer out of Swanton , Ohio last friday?

I don't remember Swanton, but I think that was me? Just bought it in Toledo and towed it back to Minnesota.

Bought it from John Schessler in Genoa, OH. I actually traded my 50' Scarab Meteor and a few bucs for the Express. It needs some motor work but that's my bag. Hope to have it running before the lakes turn hard this fall.
I'd appreciate any info you have about the boat, or general info on the 39s. Todd |
Congratulations! That is a beautiful boat, John has a lot of time and effort in it. It shouldn't be a problem to have it in this season, I didn't think it needed too much mechanical work to be ready to run.

Thanks for the congrats. Yea, John seems to be a really good guy and in the short time I've known him seems to really know what he's doing. On top of that he didn't appear to spare much time or expense in rigging it, so I am excited to get it going.
The history that John gave me is that one motor proceded to eat an intake valley screen after the epoxy let loose with only about an hour of run time on the boat and motor. That was 6-7 years ago. Hard to believe a 1994 boat with one hour on it, but he said that it's been in pieces for over 6 years, and since he bought the hull and deck new in 1996 and rigged it himself, it doesn't sound too far fetched. Regardless, the hull seems to be about as close to perfect as you could ask for, and same goes for the cockpit and cabin. The motors have some scored pistons and are a little strong on compression for my liking considering they are supercharged. I'm calculating about 9.7+:1 now. I'm going to drop it quite a bit from there so I can get away with pump gas. Maybe 8.0:1 or there abouts. The little power loss should be worth the gain in reliability. Well thanks again, and I'd love to hear about how yours and any others that you know of run. I understand from John that there are quite a few 39s in that area. Todd |
Congrats Todd. Looking forward to seeing it on the water!!
