early bird gets the work done!
Dennis,
I see you posted at 5:07 AM. NICE! My cleaning lady woke me up at 7:00 AM while I was sound asleep. I understand that those 39OE owners all live in the Lake Erie area of Ohio. I am going to my boat today to get some work done. Picking up my new cockpit and cabin carpet and dropping off my throttles to get powder coated white. The mufflers are probably finished and cockpit seating is about midway finished. The cushion for between the engines is sitting in the bed of my truck. I had it made so you could flip up the cushion to get access to the gas and anchor storage. I just got a 4 megapixal digital camera, so pics, here I come. Mark Smith |
Waiting for Pics!
When I registered for SOTW, marc called me and said there were two OE's registered the same day. The other a 31. I asked about you and he said you always wait till the last minute.
|
I always wait for the last minute just to make sure the boat is running. Why pay if your boat is not running. I would like to at least run the boat a couple of times before writing a check for $1000.00. I will be there for sure just to check out Marc's girlfriend, she's HOT. Besides, all of my other boats are much to big to tow.(JK)

SOTW
In reality, there is a strong percentage that I will not have this thing done the way things are going.
I still have the Top Gun, just have to borrow a trailer. Look under the other thread of OE boat pics. I added a couple from this weekend. |
Turtle slow
My project is going very slow too. The steel for the exhaust has not even arrived. Its one day of welding and another for polishing. The pole on the back of the front seat was made for holding towels not 4-5 drunks at 80-100 mph. The seats are rebuilt and re-enforced for strength. The vinyl is getting done this week. The OE logo is digitized on her computer now and I can get T-shirts and Jackets custom made. I know she has Cig in her system.
Everytime I call Teague, they are closed. So I am going to fax my order to them. Still waiting for the trim cyclinders. If I get them, I get them. That won't keep me from the water. Mark |
Trim cylinders
Did you know they can be rebuilt?
|
I do not have any to be rebuilt. I only wish I did. Twin disc says that all drives come with trim cyclinders. Where did they go when OE bought them.

Hmmmm
Good question. I imagine you have talked to the Ross's? The few I have seen have been different to some extent.
I understand from Marc (Boatme) that you ramp your 39. He sent me pics so I can outfit mine to ramp. What do you pull it with? Have you had any issues pullng her out? After all the messing around I have done with pull vehicles I have an employee ( part time farmer) who has a 3500 Ford deisel twin cab dually who is happy to take $.50 per mile and fuel to let me use his truck. |

For one year, I pulled my boat with a van. It is my work van 350 w/ a Power Stroke Diesel. No 4x4., just limited slip rear end. Only one time did I have a problem pulling it out and that was because the launch ramp had a huge cloud of seaweed that came in. Everyone's trailer dragged the seaweed on their trailer frame and bunks. We had to hook my truck to another truck with 4x4 and that pulled us out. Then out an hour pulling the seaweed off of the trailer. Alot of the seaweed was stuck between the bunks and the hull of the boat.
Now I have a 350 crew cab dually diesel with a long bed 4x4. 100% garage kept. Used to tow the boat only. Tows like a dream. I just put it into 4x4 low to pull the boat out so I do not ruin the rear ends. If I had someone to tow my boat, I would jump all over it. If you figure $40,000+ truck a year would be $10,000 a year plus $1000 for insurance would be $11,000 year. I am sure that would be cheaper to have it towed. I think you leave your boat at a marina most of the time. Mark |
