Re: Dont be a scared.....
Ron...it happened sooo fast.
From our view. The Boat was flying. As you can see, The Water was dead flat. It did a couple of chine walks , hooked, spun and rolled. |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Mad-Dog, Eric, glad your both OK. PAIN HEALS, CHICKS DIG SCARS...GLORY LASTS FOREVER!

Re: Dont be a scared.....

Re: Dont be a scared.....
Im going to come clean guys. I was NOT wearing my seat belt or helmet just my vest. Eric had his lap belt on and vest but no helmet. STUPID,STUPID,STUPID. I was not going to tell any details on it but have changed my thinking on it.
I can honestly say we have ALWAYS tested with helmets, vest and belts in our boat but when I looked at the water being so calm I thought what could happen. BAD dission on my part. It showed lack of respect for the water and boat. I also feel horrable that I let Eric also not wear his full gear. I have more expreiance then him and im sure he saw me not wearing anything and thought it would also be OK. Its a terrable way to learn a lesson. I am praying that by posting this that NO ONE tests with out ALL THERE EQ. If I have to be the example and get ridiculed for it so be it. As to why we rolled thats another post on there I was! |

Re: Dont be a scared.....
Once again...... all the ball busting aside, I am damn glad you are OK. Just a reminder of the fact that you can get bitten when you least expect it.
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy,
Let's hope that everyone learns a lesson from your misfortune. I think everyone is guilty of testing without all the safety gear, I have seen it many times. It seems that it's usually the smooth water that reaches out and bites you. Matt |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
that's amazing, thank god you're okay!!! It's a good thing it didnt get you in the eye.
The boat looks great! I hear its running great also, it should be an interesting season! We'll see you all in Biloxi for the OSS's "smokin the sound" |
Re: Dont be a scared.....

It was worth posting it. I wont test without it. Hope you guys are doing better. Glad you boat is ok. maximus (marc) |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
 Randy,Eric, glad you guys and the boat are alright. Randy, can't believe you weren't wearing your safety gear. Or were you guys out of control in some Hudson County go-go bar? Looks like you got whacked with a baseball bat. I just rolled into Daytona Beach I'm working my home. Talk to you over the weekend. Big Ed

Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy, Randy, Randy
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Someone was watching over you two.
No safety boats in the area, no helmets, not seatbelts, no brains, and the boat lands right side up. You lucky bastards. Did you even have SCUBA on board? For all non racers, I hope you at least wear your lanyards whenever you take a ride. I'm just glad your both OK. |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
ouch, that will certainly leave a mark. Glad you guys a alright
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy,
Glad to here you will both be OK! I addmired that you posted the truth-I'm sure others will learn from your "experience". Did you pick up a new sponsor? The "Wendy's Biggie cup" matches the boat perfectly! |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy and Eric,
I too am glad you're both ok. Randy and Eric, tisk tisk tisk... This is me shaking my finger at you both... :( You and "WE" all know better than to test without the proper safety equipment, now I will save the rest of the stern talking to, until Biloxi. I'm glad you both SURVIVED!!! Ben |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Just stopped by MD shop and WHM 2 is ok.We could not find any damage to the hull and drive.Jay and I were in shock when this accident happened and I will also admit that I never wear my safety equipment when testing.I thank god that Randy and Eric are doing fine and have learned a life saving lesson at their expense.I want to thank everybody that helped,in particular Bruce, you are a great friend.I will tell you this MD will be racing in Beloxi, and that is a sigh of a champion.Thank you Randy for your honesty,I owe u my friend.
Wil PS.Eric's boots are lethal objects inside the cockpit. |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy, I too am glad you guys made out okay and that you did the right thing and fessed up. Hopefully new and old racers can take a warning from this incident and sometime, somewhere, someone will survive because of the price you paid this weekend. You dne bad, but you made up for it. heal well my friend.

You guys are very lucky someone was watching over you, thanks god you are both OK...Get well quick.
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Ted, can you get some of those stickers made up? I know a bunch of boats that would qualify to have one on each side. :evilb:
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
I'm glad to hear you guys are OK!
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Not even a seat belt on Randy???
You surprised me..... :( Here is a little saying I want you to put on your dashboard next to a picture of your family: "A belt and vest for the FAMILY, a helmet for the show. Give me a bottle of air and I am ready to go!!!" I am glad you both came away from this and sorry you had to learn the hard way. :( That has got to be the worst thing you can do, getting in a canopy without being belted in. Now you know what it would feel like being in a washing machine on the heavy duty cycle... Please have another look at the outdrive on the boat and everything on the transom. Check the engine mounts and stringers too. Just take another look. The side load to the drive must have been extremely hard. May want to consider having it magnu-fluxed to check for any cracks you cannot see. Good luck on your recovery. BTW It looks like that may need a stitch or two... :( |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy all joking aside....Glad to see you and Eric are OK....
On a lighter note.....I told you not to call TUNDRA by his name or he would bite you in the face.....and to top it off TUNDRA called me and said something about you lifting his tale up in the air and you being behind him right before the bite accured.....Things that make you go HHHMMMMM.... Get well soon!!!! |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Spoke to Mad-Dog today, in a lot of pain but thankful to be alive. Thank God for better living through modern chemistry! He'll be out testing this weekend (In full protective gear) What'd you expect, He's part of The Jersey Boyz. He ain't right!!!
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
Randy,
I think you made the statement once that you would only be thrown out of a boat once. Well I guess it's a good thing you had the canopy. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to both you and Eric. If you think about it, you probably saved some lives. |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
I assure you he is not the only one that has tested without proper gear. I have been out in the canopy boat w/o being strapped or with a helmet........ I wont again!! I also know a few guys that are former world champs that have been tossed around inside canopys because they were not belted. I think the reminder is of benefit to us all.

Re: Dont be a scared.....
There is no race so important, and no test that is so urgent, that we cannot take the time to test safely.... ;)
Afterall, lives are at stake, and equipment can be lost. Equipment can be replaced. Love ones cannot! Now all let's have a good safe season and remain ALIVE in 2005!!! |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
I agree but how do you police it?
MD |
Re: Dont be a scared.....
You don't. Some people just need to use common sense and stop being so macho.
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....
I nominate Ron P as the official testing police!!
|
Re: Dont be a scared.....

I agree with Ron and the common sense part. But most of us DO NOT HAVE IT. We believe that certain things will never happen to us. Case in point, I bet everyone that posted on this thread drives a car and has driven over the speed limit on a regular basis. But, does everyone where their seat belt. I know I don't, and have been lucky to have not been in a bad car wreck. I also know that when I've used power tools (grinder, etc.) I haven't worn googles neither. I also DO NOT where a life jacket when we running around in our boat or my bro's boat. Most people think of comfortability before safety. Maybe the problem is that we assume it will never happen to "me", and usually a person doesn't learn until it does happen to them. The idiot is the one that doesn't learn from the mistake. So, DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad all is well. Just my 2 cents. |
