Why is St. Clair taken off the roster???? Loved havin' the big dogs runnin' in my neck of woods!

Again it all comes down to the dollar, and for 3 years OSS has raced in st.clair in the red, many attempts have be made to secure the site again, but the cash is not there. All the racers love St clair but from a business standpoint it is not econmical to continue racing there with out the towns support finacially. It would be great if the desire to have OSS there could begin a flurry of fund raisers to help secure the site.

What are you talking about in the red. From what I understand OSS always got paid.

Yeah....as Pete said, it seems it costs OSS more to put on a race than comes in from the city.

St Clair is Awesome, we'd love to go back. Im sure we all agree on that.

But hey, you never know. It could still happen. The date is still open. Lets just see what happens.

Translation - the city doesn't give a damn about the race production cost. They want to see a return on their sponsorship dollars - that's all.

St Clair has a track record now. The local businesses know what kind of increase in revenues to expect on a race weekend, and they base their decisions on history. Don't blame a restaurant for not writing a $3,000 check if last year's race only brought in an extra $1,000 in sales.

It ain't personal, it's just business. Offshore racing needs race sites more than the cities need offshore racing................

I spent a small fortune on sponsorship books and seminars when I first started racing. They are all for sale if anyone is interested.

Why buy the books when I got you teaching me for free?:D

Did your small investment payoff? Or was it in vain?

Its funny, Im doing a project in NY for a sports marketing firm. I've been snoopin around and asking some questions. And while I've learned a bit, they still say its hard to obtain sponsorships in Motorsports, especially offshore racing.

Everyone that I talked to in the motorsports sponsorship profession focused on "measurable results". If you can't prove that you are delivering value, then it's a tough sell.

We did well on hotel rooms for race weekends and had a number of $800 to $2,000 sponsors, but never landed a big one. I also didn't fudge numbers to make the sport look like it was more than it was/is. The books did help understand the "other side" of the deal.
