Official spectator viewing areas for the afternoon races will be Sugar Loaf Park on the south shore of the lake and Fairfield Bay Park on the north shore of the lake. The official viewing areas will have access to comfort facilities, food vendors and audio coverage of the races, all for a $10 armband charge. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited and coolers will not be allowed in official viewing areas. Choctaw Park will host the launching area for craning the boats in the water and will be open to spectators on the dates of April 21-22 ($5 for parking at Choctaw). The Race Village will be staged on Hwy 16 E at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds in Clinton, on site parking available for $5 and vendors in Village. The races are open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and a $10 arm band gets you into ALL viewing areas for that day. At Sugar Loaf Park, viewers will park directly off Highway 92, close to the entrance to the park. For Fairfield Bay the off-site parking will be at the corner of Highway 330 and the new road across the street from Bill's Gas & Deli. Shuttles will be provided. The Choctaw Park boat ramp will be closed from April 21-22 for the wet pit craning area. The east boat ramp at Sugar Loaf Park will remain open until filled through the race weekend. Campers will be allowed in the parks until the campsites are full on a 1st come, 1st served basis. Some of the camp areas will be restricted and off-limits due to race activities. There are many other parks located around Greers Ferry Lake to accommodate campers. Persons planning to watch the races from their boat should know all spectator boats must be in place by 10:30 am on race days. Spectator boats will only be allowed on the east and west ends of the race course, outside the safety buffer areas. The north and south shores along the race course will be closed to spectator boats for safety and to assure official spectator viewing areas have better viewing.
