It was amazing weekend. This was the most challenging race to put together, but thanks to a relentless race producer, and the HARD work of the OSS Staff, plus some local help at the last second when the local crabbers threatened to kill the event. It all came together at the last second and we had a great weekend in Kenner. All we heard was "Your coming back again next year, right? I hope we do go back to Kenner.
The awards became rather emotional as Al Copeland Jr and his wife Liz attended the awards and some of the winners got rather emotional as they recalled stories of racing with Big Al. Overall, this might have been the best race weekend I've ever attended. It started with the Big Bash on Friday - must have been 1000 people there...and it ended with an evening partying on Burboun St. Ask Randy how honored he was by Jenni giving him the T-Bag award. Next stop is in just two weeks in Orange Beach Al. That event will now be stepped up because the local tourist developement council has stepped in with additional funding. Thunder on the Gulf is a major event in that area. Anyone up for some golf on Thursday before the race? Here's some photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/ossracin...ey=nr4_W4qyTlA |
Just wanted to say thanks for a great day of racing! The setup of the venue was great and the view of the course was great from just about anywhere. Hopefully this will turn into a set deal every year! Thanks!

Ron, You sure have kicked it up a few notches. You, Lou Anne, and everyone involved did an awesome job.
The buses to Bourbon Street Sunday night topped off a killer weekend. Thanks to the entire OSS staff for a great weekend and raising the bar. |
ron, i,too, would like to "thank you" for the effort that oss did this past weekend with the race. i was proud to be a part of it, volunteering at the "front gate".. but, personally, for me it was meeting the "good" people that make up the oss. take care my friend, SAL CIMINO
