not quite answering them but any way carry on.

Bruce I don't think your going to get an answer. I would like to know.

MANITIE 09-17-2008 09:55 AM

Well if you need to know e-mail Frank or just call him...or call any of the OSS racers that run in SBI/APBA...they would know the payout....

But I'm wondering...is it about the prise money that the full fee's do not want to be paid...

BRUCE SEROFF 09-17-2008 10:21 AM

Im just curious what the payout would be vs. cost to race.

What is important now is that everyone get together and work to strengthen the sport, holding grudges will only continue to destroy the sport till there is hardly anyone left racing and it will never grow. It is in the hands of all the racers and owners who call the shots because without you there is no Sanctioned racing. Tourism is hurt, sponsors and the boating industry is hurt and right now no one needs to be hurt any more then they are now. For those of you who don't think this bull**** squabbling is not hurting the sport think again, it is killing it. I just can't believe that, this mentality of holding a grudge is allowed to continue and tolerated by most racers and the race fans. I don't know what happened in the talks and really don't care except for the fact that there was an opportunity to finally race together * * and that chance was blown away by possibly ego's and hatred which will destroy the credibility of the sport in the future. United We Race is not just a slogan it is the future of the sport and for those of you that don't get it, I feel sorry for you because without it the sport will be nothing like it should be and you can take credit for it. No one wants to go and see a handful of boats racing, they want to see a lot of boat's racing and making it exciting and not boring and if you don't get together it will end up being boring. Racers, owner's, sponsors and race fans it's up to you, where Offshore Powerboat Racing is going to go now and in the future.

The way I read it, they may race there, just not under the OSS banner, instead it's.....UNITED WE RACE ! which is a good thing..... It's the only game in town, and it's the best! A huge opportunity opened up for ALL to race together!!
Thanks John.

BRUCE SEROFF 09-17-2008 10:33 AM

You buying the first round? My flight is booked.

MANITIE 09-17-2008 10:33 AM

Bruce...you have been around for a while....really, they are offering $1650 for 3 days of racing, 2 days of testing, safety and prise money and to race in K.W....instead of paying the $3950....come on...were only talking about $2200 more....and we all meet up in K.W.

If you can't afford it...OK we all know everyone can not pay that...but to raise that differance of money in over a month is not that hard....your talking about $2200 for what 8 boats..so maybe 20k....hell they can rasie that in LOTO alone....

BRUCE SEROFF 09-17-2008 10:36 AM

Its not that I cant afford it. Im trying to justify it to the rest of the class.

cauzmik 09-17-2008 10:39 AM

I know that everyone has concerns about traveling to the races..and some teams can't raise enough money {the smaller ones}..but I think it's time that OSS looks at coming into the 2009 season with a whole different approach to Offshore Racing. We need to spice up what we all consider a sport...maybe the rules are fine, but there should be some progress in bringing races to Canada and other parts of the US. I know for a fact the Kingston, Ontario PRA poker run every year brings in at least 50,000 spectators...if I'm a sponsor that looks pretty damn good to me. I mean look at the support Americans throw behind football games with 40,000 in a stadium and tell me it can't be done in boat racing. On top of that someone needs to step up and get more coverage on TV...the only way the sport will grow is when people all over can watch it without attending. I'm in Ontario and we don't get anything...NOTHING..which is annoying as hell when I turn on my TV and all I see is Curling and Poker and Bowling shows. I mean gimme a break...I would be willing to gather a group of investors from Canada to bring a race to Canada with the Cooperation of OSS. But we need to come together and make sure were getting 50+ boats at every event...we need to spice up the location...don't get me wrong 5 stops in Florida is great... for Floridians. We need to realize that the only logical way to expand the sport is to expand our idea's. They say in Marketing "A good idea only lasts as long as you can sell it" Well I think were past that point for performance boat racing.

Moral of the story is...there's a lot of talk and no action...There has to be fortune 500 companies out there with an interest...making the prize pot more means more competition.

-more coverage brings more sponsors, brings more fans, brings bigger prize pots, more teams turn up...

Sorry for the rant
Show them with this last one boys...make it exciting!
Goodluck - I'll be watching via...old youtube highlights
