SVLs making the Bimini run?

I know the Vortec Extreme boat is planning to make th run again this year. So are there any other SVL boats willing to take a shot at it?

Aqua Banshee 05-04-2009 11:20 PM

Our boat is short on fuel range and its $1000 to enter, plus extra safety gear. Save it for Sunday

Brad Johnson 05-05-2009 01:24 PM

If I can scrape up the money for the entry fee we will make the run :party-smiley-004:

obrien 05-05-2009 07:20 PM

That would be great. The more the better. I know Steve and Adib had a great time doing the run last year.

Banshee how big is your fuel tank?

smiklos@sunprint 05-05-2009 08:48 PM

Bimini

We made it on 44.9 gallons what size is your tank? This is a real ocean race not a lake race, . It is one of the best events I have done in well over 100 starts. If you are a racer this is a race you should do. Last year only the Lavey Craft "got off the trailer" hats off to them for putting it out there.

I think it is 60 gal but I have never filled it up. What is the extra saftey equip. required?

smiklos@sunprint 05-06-2009 06:54 AM

Safety Gear

We took the usual plus an epirb and extra fluids.

I think they are requiring the boats to have a real life raft this year.

We had one but it was tight to have it in the safety cell. We looked at putting it in the bilge but was clear we may never get it out if the boat sank. The surest thing is truck inner tubes inflated in the bow.

Hey guys. Life rafts are not required. The rule book can be found on the web site www.SIBOffshore.com

The cost of this event is huge, almost every dollar goes to insurance and the safety management plan as we have dive rescue helos, fixed wing forward observers, and med staff on boats as well as the Bimini logistics.

Please check out the website and call or message me with any questions.

Thanks for all the support!
