Thumbs up Lake Cumberland Grand Prix, This Weekend!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note from local promoters, it's great to see them really getting behind this event, every team should do there best to make it to this well supported event!

Let's keep swinging the hammer hard this week! We had large amounts of our rackcards and posters at ALL Lake Cumberland marinas by this weekend, and 10,000 copies of the race program-which was produced by the Commonwealth Journal-was inserted in Sunday's newspaper in the region. Some reports show 250,000 visitors to LC this weekend, so if we get a fraction of those visitors back this coming weekend, could be a huge crowd!

i went down today, just as unorganized as last year. This could be such a great event with just a little help. The spectators really came out and people were exicited about the event but they waited for hours to see nothing. Please make things better next year!

What was unorganized? I was shooting pixs on the course all day, on Turnboat #1, and on the from what I experienced, the water aspect was quite organized. Where did people wait hours to see nothing? I've got photos starting at 12 Noon & running till 4:30, showing teams either practicing, or racing in heats. The practice window opened at 11, but there were some issues with the Crane in the pits, so teams didn't hit the course till Noon. But several teams ran for a few hours, practicing, tuning, & getting ready for Sunday. And you are correct, the fan turnout, was great, as were the rather large spectator fleets. I would just like to know, where your getting your information regarding the other points I countered from.

when we wre there nothing was going on.we ask patrol boats about it and they didn't know,i was also listening in on the scanner and it was as if they were just as confused. after we left i watched boats go that way all day, they seem to stay around 15-20min. and i would see them go back. i figure they wre just as impressed as i was. i have attended many boat races in the past, but the last 2 have been terrible. as you stated in the prior post turn out was light so there is not much competition to watch.jmo
