5 blade props
Our the 5 blade props leagal in Factory boats this year?
Randy |
Randy,
The rules do not say they are. This could change. J |
My understanding is that the Hydromotive 5 blades are approved this year for F1and F2. I imagine the new Mercury 5 blades would also be approved but initially the Mercury 5 blades will only be available in 32 and 34 pitches. Too much pitch for F1, should be able to use the 32 5 blades on F2, however.

Julie being a prop shop I think you should call and find the correct answer to this.APBA must have an answer on this either yes or no or maybe later in the year.Work your magic Julie and give us the real answer.
Randy |
I am on hold with the APBA right now........................
|
This is the information I received at 2:59 pm from the APBA...
as per Steve Miklos, via APBA, has stated that 5 Blade Propellers WILL BE LEGAL for the 2003 Racing Seaason. A published rule change is expected in the next week, according to the APBA! Julie |
Thankyou Julie thats what I like answers not rummors.
You better get buisy working your magic on the new 5 blades.Im sure there are ways to tweek them to make them as fast as the 4 blades. If anyone has the talant its Matt to get the most out of a blade. Randy |
How are the new five blades from Hydromotive and Mercruiser running? Anyone done any testing with them yet?
Chuck |
The 5 Blades from Hydromotive work very well...particularly on the cats. The experinces with F1 and F2 are somewhat limited as they were not legal for offshore racing in these 2 classes in 2002. Mercs Maximus is of course the new 5 blade prop which I personally have no experiences with. My understanding is that the Maxmus, Mercury's New 5 Blade will debut at the Miami International Boat Show. It will be available shortly thereafter but.....only in 32p and 34P initially. I will post info as I receive it. Please DO NOT hesitate to call us here, at Throttle Up Propellers with any questions or special requests that you may have! We truely want to be here for ALLof you this year!
It is always a pleasure! Thank you Julie Throttle Up Propellers 877-842-6855 www.throttle-up.com |
Julie,
What's the difference between the new Mercury Maximus and the old Mercury High-5 props?
I used to run a High-5 on my old Velocity. It was a little slower than the 25' Mirage, but handled real well, with a great holeshot. |
OMG !!!!!
Julie,
As I was typing that, I just remembered two props all boxed up and ready for shipping sitting in my kitchen, (I don't go into the kitchen much...) Please call me at your convenience (913) 485-3151 |
Julie,
Spoke to Matt today and looking foward to running the 5 blades and see if they work on my boat.I think the HydroMotive will work better for me.... Frank |
Gordo,
I haven't had my hands on a pair of the new 5 blade Mercury props yet, but we have placed our order for them. Hopefully, we will get them as soon as they become available. We are looking forward to working with them to see how they work. I will call you about your props, in the kitchen, funny I have props in my kitchen as well! We will keep you all posted on our test results with the 5 Blades on the Hydromotives as well as Mercury's. Frank, We are looking forward to seeing you soon! I will talk to you in the next day or so! Julie |
Gordo,
I am sorry that I did not answer your question about the High 5....It has a 13.25 Diameter and is only available up to a 26P. The blades are realatively small compared to a Bravo 1. There is not much simialarity between the two. The Rake is different as well . But again until I get one in my hands I just don't feel that confident speaking of them. Time will fix this of course and we will keep you all up to date on our findings. Thank you all for your time. Julie |
