Thats it!!!!!

The sanctioning body's have NEVER EVER,EVER,EVER asked most teams what they want in there class. Why they make rules and change specs without our input is insane. I will admit APBA has asked my opinion on several occasions. But thats just my opinion not all of yours. Its our class and we are the show so we should have input. They want our opinion but to help but they cant ever get us together for a meeting. We had some good communication in Cape last year and the did here us! They changed our start.

Enough talk,
1) Do you want an opinion in our class?
2)Do you want a Representative for our class?
3)Leave it alone?

I would suggest all classes do this but its just my opinion.

We need everyones Phone #,Fax # and e-mail please fax it to me at 908-272-4764
Maybe its easier to set up a conference call with anyone who is interested.

MANITIE 06-08-2003 11:24 AM

Randy, you got my number and e-mail is CBOFFSHORE@ aol.com
I'm in!!! I know we can put in some ideas to help this class. but it is on us to we said we were going to all get together and talk about it in Marathon and we did'nt, at least not like we should have and presented it to APBA while we where there.

fastedy 06-08-2003 11:48 AM

I'm in.

Pete B 06-08-2003 01:25 PM

Randy,
with the fact that you are the most vocal of the f-1 racers , you should step up, and lead the class. mid-season changes are tough on everyone, so put your thoughts together for a end of year meeting, that could be held on a off day at the worlds. i think all classes should do this so there will be no surpises for the following years due to all agreeing as to the direction of the class.

Peconic 06-08-2003 01:37 PM

End of the year meeting? Nothing gets their attention as fast as the talent organizing during the season.

Pete B 06-08-2003 01:54 PM

Peconic,
obvoiusly if there is a issue that needs to be dealt with prior to the next race, with out a doubt! but a year end meeting to say where you want your class to go the following year including engines and drives etc, just my thoughts anyway.

Peconic 06-08-2003 02:09 PM

Nobody will listen to you once the season is over.

Also, meeting during the season cuts down on unnecessary travel. Set it up for Savannah, Randy. Before the race.

Flashwave 06-08-2003 05:57 PM

Randy

THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've waited long enough. Were are the pictures of the new sled . Peconics back. No excuses. We want pictures. :)

Being rigged as we speak. Not much to show. As you are aware, rigging is a time-consuming process, akin to watching grass grow. Here is a picture of Randy's new office.

Flashwave 06-08-2003 06:23 PM

Was this at WOT?

Peconic 06-08-2003 06:29 PM

No, at Kryptonite.

fastedy 06-08-2003 07:04 PM

Peconic, why dont you have someone else rigg the boat, the summer will be half over when you get that thing. I know of a great rigger in Long Island thats Marine Certified if you need someone.

Peconic 06-08-2003 07:15 PM

Thanks!

But we're talking about Randy's boat, Eddie.

Mine is in a similar state. The only saving grace is that due to the weather, we haven't missed much boating.

Both boats are in their final stages, I'd figure about 80% rigged.

Barring acts of god, I'd say Randy will race a black Kryptonite in Savannah. Seaside Hghts., no, Savannah, yes.

Peconic 06-08-2003 07:18 PM

Oh, and there has been a design change. Randy's boat will still be black on the outside, but the mint green inside has been ditched.

The color scheme now is black, blue, with chrome accents. Very sharp.

Pete B 06-08-2003 07:30 PM

The color scheme now is black, blue

is that the color after one of those famed jersey rough water races or before. :)

Peconic 06-08-2003 07:33 PM

.. and silver.

Inspired by the famed Jersey races.

Or when you get hit by a baseball bat.

TYPHOON 06-08-2003 07:47 PM

Ok send in your #'s and I will contact APBA Monday morning. I would like a second with me on this. If you are interested let me know. If we say there is a meeting and you don't show then don't complain. Its a group supported class, no input then take what comes our way and like it.
MD

ScottB 06-08-2003 07:49 PM

Eddy, Maybe you can explain this to me. It is my understanding that our boats have a 300 lb weight penalty because of the size.
I am new to F1 and can't understand why the smaller boats can be lighter, it seems to me it should be the other way around.

Peconic 06-08-2003 07:52 PM

Gino and Randy for F1 class presidents.

TYPHOON 06-08-2003 08:13 PM

Scott Its because a 30' boat has a better advantage in the ocean than a 25' boat. On the other hand in calm water it is a disadvantage to be bigger. Maybe this is something we can change if everyone is for it. My only concern is a Worlock at 29' is one of the fastest boats out there. Maybe your hull just cant hang at 30'. I know Eddie has tried everything but.
MD

ScottB 06-08-2003 08:18 PM

With the calm water and short course, we can't hang.
Our boat isn't slow, it just take forever to get up to speed and we get killed in the turns.

Flashwave 06-08-2003 08:21 PM

Actually Randy, the Warlock is officially a 28. That puts it right in the middle for a good size to weight balance for all types of water. It's no speed demon though.

J

Offshore Addiction 06-09-2003 07:32 AM

Our boat is a 28', not a 30'- and Scott is right - our boat was does well in the long courses not the short stadium style courses....

MANITIE 06-09-2003 08:50 AM

We have new boats, new people in boats, new engine packages dialing in....I think when we race in Savannah in some rougher waters you'll see Eddie and the bigger boats up front. In the last 3 years this has been the calmest waters in the first 2 National races. Will get our big water!!! In Daytona last year in 3 footers it was 3 Warlocks 1st,2nd and 3rd and Flashwave in 1st place in the point standings going into Savannah. So we know the Warlocks can run and the time Eddie has put into his boat all he needs is a little rougher water and he's there and we know the PRAIRIE DOG and HOLLYWOOD can run...so this could be a close race.

TYPHOON 06-09-2003 03:58 PM

Eddie are you a 30' or 29' when measured by APBA? I would be willing to reduce your weight if the rest of teams thought it was the right thing to do. Only after we see how it runs in the rough.
MD;)

Dredgeking 06-09-2003 04:35 PM

Randy,

what is the current issue you want to bring to APBA's attention?

packinair 06-09-2003 05:10 PM

Eddie I think Randy is on to something take out the seats. just kidding. I totally agree If you're not competitive Let's work together

TYPHOON 06-09-2003 08:15 PM

My biggest concerns are equal boats. I have always liked this class because its about talent. To many options will just make it another P class. #1 on the agenda should be reducing the # of motor and drive combinations. Max should be 2 equal motors and only 1 XR drive.
MD

Gordo 06-09-2003 08:24 PM

Randy,
I disagree with one thing. Why limit it to the Bravo drive?

TYPHOON 06-09-2003 08:37 PM

What else is there that is reliable?
MD

TYPHOON 06-09-2003 08:50 PM

Please fax your info to me ASAP. Don't assume I have it. I contacted APBA today to let them know where we stand. It was sent via e-mail to HQ. Geno I offered you and me as contacts.
MD

outer42 06-09-2003 08:55 PM

i think he's refering to a #6 or b-max or something similar imco xtreme a guess

Gordo 06-09-2003 09:04 PM

Actually, I keep wishing some other manufacturer would get into the game. Not a remake of the Bravo, but what if something like the old OMC King Cobra came back? I realize that may be a far away dream, but why not leave it open just in case?

TYPHOON 06-09-2003 09:10 PM

They are both good drives but it still leave questions as to witch drive is faster than the other. Merc. makes a solid XR drive and it should be a reliable choice for a drive. Merc has a truck at all Pro series races and has parts if needed. I have never seen IMCO or B-Max at a race as racers suppot. Have you?
MD

MANITIE 06-10-2003 01:39 PM

I agree, an all he F1 guys already have XR's and there are plenty out there to buy... If we start bring in 2 or 3 diferent drives into the picture how are you going to compare exacted speeds even with my XZ I was 1 an a half faster, just did'nt have the reliablity in rough water, and would another manufacture atttend and support us and the APBA.

Pete B 06-10-2003 02:02 PM

Gordo,
Keep in mind we are talking Factory racing here, one drive, one engine, various boat manufacturer's. This will either advance one's boat or make them go to school and build a faster boat, yet remain within a price that make it affordable. If you want a bunch of options as to drives, motors, etc. If each class has a spokesman, and they communicate, they make thier own destiny for their class.

Peconic 06-10-2003 06:09 PM

Well, it seems the "one engine" part is already out of the window, and there's a lot of confusion. There really is no need for another drive. Since there is no new drive vying for the job, I thinlk we can put this issue to rest.

TYPHOON 06-11-2003 09:21 AM

I have made contact with APBA (Mike A.) and he is totaly in favor of our input. This is our class and they do want to here from us on ideas. I have not gotten all the F1 teams info yet so please fax it to me. I will be sending out a questioneer via fax so I need your #'s
Does anyone have the capability of seting up a confrance call?
MD
