SBI in Marathon

Was told there were 14-16 boats there and the big race is between the SV class with 5 entry's. Tear it up guys.

Ben@SRP 06-16-2003 06:49 AM

Yep, 13 started was about right...
Quite the turnout for SBI... NOT...

PS: Doesn't "racing" imply competition? aka, competing against someone else...

KenD 06-16-2003 08:45 AM

Ben,

Cincinnati had 41 entries this weekend. Things went great, only a couple of minor hitches after the river came up a couple of feet on Saturday night....the crane crew got their feet wet getting to the crane.

TYPHOON 06-16-2003 08:53 AM

Now thats racing!!! congrads to all the teams in Cinci.

KenD,
Thanks for the update. Congrats to Chris Reindl on what sounds like a great race, and to say nothing about it being a 1st time event... Way to go, now go show SBI how to do a race. Hell Chris alone with the bat boats, has almost as many boats as SBI had to put on its race.

outer42 06-16-2003 02:23 PM

ben@srp,why don't you start your own body to sea how you do? i'm sure there's other people in your type of business that has more sales than you. everybody floats diffrent boats, you wouldn't like to be kicked either when you're down.

Ben@SRP 06-16-2003 04:05 PM

Why do so many people get so bent out of shape over the whole SBI thing? We all have our own "opinions" and they all stink. No biggie... Can't we all just get along???
I simply voiced my OWN opinion on what I saw at an SBI race. And for the record, I'm SURE there are a lot of people who sell more than me, and they do voice it too, and it really doesn't bother me either.

It's all good, I'm not trying kick anybody while they are down or up for that matter.

Reindl Powerboats 06-16-2003 06:36 PM

Ken,

We had 42 boats sir... LOL

Thank you to all the teams that showed up in the pouring rain and river condititions... And how about them fans. Judging from beer sales we had over 20,000 for the 3 days.

Special thanks to Rob and Terrah for all their help - as well as the entire GLSCS Staff.

Chris,
It was our first GLSCS race and we thought you did an awesome job expecially under some adverse weather conditions. 42 boats is very impressive. Outer 42 I don't want to start my own bod but you have to admit that 19 boat is pretty bad. The funny thing is I don't think Jon C cares.
Typhon have you got paid for SBI worlds yet or are you still waiting.
Oh yeah in Cinci we got our check two hours after the race at the awards banquet which almost all the teams forwarded to the Jack Stoerrle Memorial Fund for his family.

DanB,
You know, I only know how to play nice nice... :D
Sorry that you're not able to make Savannah, although I know you'll be in Sarasota. Hey go to the Sarasota SBI too...
Cya soon. Give my best to the Team.

Ben@SRP 06-17-2003 07:02 AM

Brett,
Very cool on the donation of the prizes money to Jack's fund and all other teams too. Also, No Randy has not been paid yet, as he offer for me to deduct my SBI racing membership out of his missing funds owed from SBI last year, if I needed it in Marathon. Although I did not end up needing a membership with SBI, no boat... Although I thought about starting a "swimming" racing class. Hell I'd get a checkered flag. (Oh, that's going to stir things up. )

outer42 06-17-2003 07:34 AM

no it not gonna stir things up,i consider the source. That why racing is the way it is. you rather be a part of the problem than the solution.

KenD 06-17-2003 09:59 AM

Chris,

I stand corrected...I forgot to count myself twice.

Back to back racing in One Design was a real blast. Coming from fifth place in Race #1 to first place in the Race #2 was even more of a blast.

Our 1st place finish puts Team Mid-American just 10 points behind Harlan Racing in the points standing. Can't wait to see how this year plays out.

By the end of the season John will be in his new Supper Cat Light and I will be in my new Super Vee....and we'll both still be running One Design. Yee Haa!

I dissagree with you. I'v been to a few of SBI races, Mr. Carbonell does care .The man does not BS tells it how it is, at the time, when needed.

BAD APPLE 06-18-2003 05:58 AM

MM,
I raced with SBI for 4 consecutive years and I can only go by what he said to me. ( no rumors) Brett, I don't care if you race with me or not and I don't know when I am going to pay you.
That attitude and no inspections last year was enough for me. The main reason was my sponsor showing up and seeing no boats. I can tell you when my sponsors went to Daytona they were much happier to see more boats at Daytona then the complete season last year at SBI.

diamonddaveF170 06-18-2003 09:48 AM

Brett,
Tell it like it is. I have never been paid from SBI ever. He wonders why people stop racing with him. I have an F! boat in florida ready to go if he pays his bills. I refuse to race ageinst one other boat anymore and say I'm a winner or show a first place trophy for beating noone. That is embarrassing. Pay people , don't back up liars and cheater( NYC 2002) and maybe people will trust you. If not tell your stories to people who are your loyal fans and don't know any better. NOONE with any dignity should come on this site and say he cares about his racers. Pay people when they pay to enter. Check their equipment for their own safety. Any stop the crap of telling everybody about how sponsors should be proud of them. Like everyone else here when my sponsor went to the race , they said" If i wanted to pay for advertising to 50 people and have you race by yourself i would invite to my house in the Hamptons for a weekend and atleast you could race me on my sailboat"
Enough said!!!
Brett see ya in Savnnah!
Everyone else see ya at OPA or APBA races.
Race were people care and people show up.

It is not a race if your by yourself!!!!!!! Unless your scared of competition!!!! :D :D

Pete B 06-18-2003 10:01 AM

MM,
There you go from just a few guys, their are more that feel that way, they arent bashing, just telling it like it is. Racing is competitive, when there is no competition, no one goes.
looking forward to Savannah. will we top 100 boats???
