Sounds like the SOB class. Remember how these guys showed up in force and made a ton of demands that were mostly agreed to?
Not one SOB has shown up at any race site. Wazzup wit dat? |
Re: OPA P6 Rules
Im thinking more of the boats that are like Not Guilty and R. Gohegans as being the top boats in P6 and maybe some guys with Baja,s, Fountains,Checkmates and more stock boats might want to come play.

Re: OPA P6 Rules
might bring some of the old 22' velociy, apache and cigarettes out of the woodwork. I'd run my 20' Cig.

Re: OPA P6 Rules
Build a boat to fit into an existing class. Cmon, how many boats are actually out there that fit into that class?
Racing is expensive ...VERY EXPENSIVE. And its tough to campaign a Team without sponsors. Bottom line, if you cant afford to build and maintain a boat for an existing class, you cant afford to race. Im on my last 10 bucks too. its been a very tough 3 years. |
Re: OPA P6 Rules
1) Not Guilty, 24 Sunsation
2) Extras, 25 Corsa 3) Poppa Dukes, 24 Carrera 4) Kean, 24 pantera 5) Friendship I, 24 Pantera 6) My Boat, 24 Sunsation If one looks at the history of racing, the original F1 and A class accounted for over 30 boats per race! I think we need to look at what was successful in the past and bring it back. The past three years boat counts have dramatically decreased in the northeast races, why? It's not about the money, its about being "reasonably" competative. |
Re: OPA P6 Rules
OK 6 boats..are they going to commit to every NE Race? What happens when they bust up their boat in Race 1 and dont come back because the boat is beyond repair or just to exspensive to repair? I've seen it happen over and over. You just cant blow your load to get a boat ready to race and not have the cash to fix it when it breaks.
There's a reason why 24 foot boats are so inexpensive. Because they cant compete in big water. So ,we go out and buy them anyway, and dump a ****load of money into them, just to beat the hell out of ourselves. Im my opinion, offering a separate class for these boats is a waste of time. What happen to Extras?? one race, they got beat up and fixed and and havent been back. What about Friendship 1 wheres he been all year? If its not about the money, why isn't your boat ready to go? Like RonP said. The SOBS were heard and welcomed, and not one showed up all season. Im not looking to make trouble here, but facts are facts. Theres a also a reason why the boat count is down. Ask around, Im sure you'll find out why. Otherwise, feel free to call me and I'll be glad to discuss it with you. 908 413 5470 regards |

"I think we need to look at what was successful in the past and bring it back"....the answer is obviously; NOTHING! or it would still be here, wouldn't it!LOL
cya all later...i'm go'n MX'n! |
Re: OPA P6 Rules
Bob get that boat together, I'll run it with you in P4, I ant scard, I've seen Scott run that 24 Pantera in Big Sh.t, and BJ ran his 24 against Arrvis's 600hp Corsa in Baltimore neck to neck. I raced 24's for a long time with much more success than I'm having now.(Penetrator & Outrageous).

Re: OPA P6 Rules
XTRAS is still here and coming to Cambridge last race in Pt. had engine and drive out and could not get back together. Never promised every race this year only that I would try. I think we need a bigger boat I have the speed just not the displacement most have.

Re: OPA P6 Rules
Ok get rid of P3 or P2. You still have 5 classes. You are just making more room for the lowest class. Arent we looking to hook a few new people in the sport? Some will move up,I did!
Question, which class has the best potential to bring new racers in P6,P3 or P2? There needs to be a bottom and a top class, the middle is easy to place boats in. I agree we dont need more classes so get rid of the semi dead ones MD |

Bruce,
we'll see you there! We are not complaining but we will make some changes for sure! Maybe I'll run my 353 in P4 :D :bunny: :D JIm |
Re: OPA P6 Rules
Bruce, if people could run there 496HO,454mags or 502 motor and be racing I dont think they have to worry about blowing it up nearly as much as the big HP motor's you need to be competitive in P5 now. 500-600 hp motors eat drives for breakfast in race conditions.

Re: OPA P6 Rules
To be completive in P5 now you need a F1 boat or equivalent, I dought I would have poneyed up that kind of money just to see how I would like racing, there's allot of small boats that would be racing if they had a chance. You should be able to race a convereted pleasure boat for 15 to 20K, our motors cost more than that.

Re: OPA P6 Rules
Eddie, how well do you think your old P5 boat would do today if it was racing the rest of the fleet?
