Need a ride?
Someone start a list with names and positions of people looking to get in a race boat. Also if you put what you were willing to pay and what you can do for a team would help. Teams are always changing and this would be a good time of the year to find a new ride.

Re: Need a ride?

Mark Kowalski (sp?) is looking for a canopy ride on the sticks and someone would be VERY lucky & successful to get him.

Re: Need a ride?
Scott Samec (GUSMAN) from here on the board. Is lookig for a seat. He is a marine mechanic in Sarasota, and has his own shop. He can work on the boat, store it, and get it to the races, maybe come up with sponsor money. He has experience in CATS and V's I trust him with my stuff and he's driven and throttled my 24'. His number is 941-232-3523 and is GUSMAN on OSO

Re: Need a ride?
Dennis Trott is from Bermuda. He's been racing around the island in open cats since he was 14. Talk about a bunch of crazy racers. Pays his own way. Potential sponsors from Bermuda. Not afraid to get in the bilge and get his hands dirty. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet. If I had an open seat, he would be at the top of the list. Email him at: [email protected]

Re: Need a ride?
Martin Sanborn and I have been working to get together a team (Super V), him on the sticks. I want to drive, but may need to sit it out for year 1. Obviously I've been in many boats, but never running in circles with you crazy bastards! Therefore, we may need a driver. Would be canopy 42 Fountain.

Re: Need a ride?
I will be a rookie this year, in fact, I am only planning on running one race this year... Buffalo. I am looking for an experienced person, but not just anyone, I need a mentor. Someone who can help me with prep of the boat, and someone who can help me with lane selection while in the race.
I have a '88 Baja 370 Force with new power. I plan to run P5. I'd post a pic, but I don't have those rights yet, however you can see my pics on Speedwake. I go by BajaIceBreaker. |

Re: Need a ride?
Why would you think they would be loosing boats. That's an entry level class. If you want to race, and you boat only does 70 MPH, you don't really have much choice. Besides, APBA was the only one left that had the size restriction. I think it's great!! Look at me, for example, I was going to go with a different circuit because of the restriction, but now I don't have to. I thought everyone would consider this a great idea.

Re: Need a ride?
There is no way a 28 foot single or smaller boat is going to be competitive against a 37 foot twin in big water. Its that simple. Thats why the rule was there in the first place.
|
Re: Need a ride?
Let me ask you this, how many P-5 boat were out there that were 21 feet long trying to compete with the 28 foot boats?
|

Re: Need a ride?
In APBA I think the minimum length is 24ft
|
Re: Need a ride?
Sorry, how many 24 foot boats were out there?
Point is, it was idea to have a 28 foot boat, because that was the max length. This is an entry level class. It should appeal to all level racers. Not entry level racers that are under 28 feet, less than 8'6" wide, under 6 feet tall, not green in color, with no performance drives, yada yada yada. The race winner is determined by the speed. Just like P4, P3, P2, P1. All performance class boats should fall in the came category of rules and restrictions. I am just terribly excited that they removed this restriction. I think it's a completely great idea. I take it you have a P-5 boat that's 28 feet long. (Not trying to be a wise arse, just trying to figure out why you don't like this rule). |

Re: Need a ride?
That's why they started P Class...for guys to come out and race and see if they liked it and just have fun....and if you wanted to continue to race you would move up to a Pro-Series Class....were there was TV and prize money....now the P-class teams get TV and prize money so they are trying to make rules to make the class into a Pro-Series with size, engine and HP restrictions to make it competitive and fair for everybody....and very few teams are moving into the Pro-Series Class's.....This is not a shot at any of the P-Class teams...I know alot of them and they are great people....but if you ever want to see the Pro-Series Class's with 20 + boats in each class the P Class guys are going to have to step up...if not the P-Class has low entry fees and TV and prize money and no spec engines...they will have no reason to move up....not taking a shot at anybody....just if P-Class was run the way it was set up I think you would see alot more teams in the Pro-Series today...and I beleive thats what everybody is shooting for...5 or 6 Pro-Class's with 10 to 15 boats in each....Just my 2 cents..

Re: Need a ride?
I agree Gino but unfortunately, I can't afford another boat, So I am stuck in PClass.
|
Re: Need a ride?
And I have to say Scott from you racing P-Class to F1 to P-Class....I think you would race against a 38 CAT in P5 and not complain and just go out and race and have fun.....and it showed with a 24ft boat and race and be compeditive against the bigger boats....I'm sure some day you will be in a Pro-Series Class racing a 38 V or CAT.....
kEEP HAVING FUN!! SCARABSCOUNOROUL, I hope you come out and race this year....even if its only the one race in BUF. It sounds like you want to give it a try and to have fun.....Just do it and enjoy....you'll meet some great people. Sorry didn't mean to get off the topic. Gino |
Re: Need a ride?
Thanks guys. I am putting together a list of questions for me to ask Jim Poplin. If everything goes right, you can count on me racing in Buffalo. Either way, though, I will be there in some form or anohter, hopefully it's in racing form.
But for now, I have to worry about my wife's family. She just made a run for home last night, around 10 PM, after receiving a call from her brother. It appears that her mother may have had a heart attack. |
