Canopy's are in!!!

So let hear from some of the new teams that are going into canopy's this year. I heard SVL will have a Phantom, Levey Craft and a Extreem. Who else is in and with what?

Randy,

Why not put a lid on one of those Kryptonites you have?? Could be a runner. Rumors were floating aroun in Key West about Velocity having a canopied entry but nothing has really come from that. Suprised Reggie has not built one as of yet.

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

I cant believe Fountain has not built one with there 32'. Maybe Velocity is working on one and has not announced it yet.

Can someone please tell me why people don't tell other racers if there building a new boat? I would think it would build on the excitement for the following year. What do you gain by not telling anyone? I would think the manufactures would want to post pic's and start there advertising as soon as possible.
MD

I would like a list of all new boats!!! Bring them on if you plan on racing. No one cares if you think its some kind of big surprise to show up at the first race.

A list of all of them please. :bunny:

Regardless of what anyone says, with a dozen or so new teams coming out in 2005, someone must think things are pretty good on the offshore racing scene.

I don't care where they go or who they race with, as long as they're all in KW next November. :D

I have been hearing that Lavey is coming out with a SVL for the last 2 years. What hull is Lavey going or did use? This months Powerboat has a 29 Lavey Nuera with (TWIN) 525's that run's 92.4 mph. Gonna have to do better than that......... Dave

Work began on the Lavey SVL a couple months ago. The boat uses the 2750 hull and the new deck mold incorporates a skater canopy. I know some of you saw pictures of the progress at Key West. The 2750 is the hull used for the F1 boat, a proven winner. Only time will tell if the boat will be ready to run this year as Lavey is busy rolling out a couple of new models, all work is focused on these boats as they are scheduled to debut at the LA Boat show Jan 29. After the show I'm sure they will jump back on the SVL.

As far as the article on the 29 Lavey with twins, I can't figure how you read a 4 page positive review on that boat and spin it as a negative. Dave, You're Gonna have to do better than that.........Brian

Does Skater sell a mold for canopy shell's? Do you think they have one to fit on a Krytonite?

Any word on Velocity and a canopy SVL?

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

Also for anyone interested in a new SVL I was at Bad Boys factory yesterday and he is also building a 32' SVL If interested call Tony on pricing. Looks like he will use the same canopy system as the 38' boat. I sat in the 38' yesterday and it has the best visibility out of all the boats hands down.

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

Faster - Relax......I'm not bashing Lavey in any way, shape, or form !!!! Their F1 is a strong runner. I simply stated that if they are using the 29 foot hull that does 92.4 mph with twin 525's and weighs in at 5200 lbs., that I don't see how they can get the speed up to mid 90's with a single 525 or Vortec which is where a few of the SVL's will be running this year. No bashing here. I like the look of the F1 Lavey. Geeeze.....Dave

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

As far as the safety requirements for the Bad Boy sre concerned there maybe a few minor changes to the next few built. I introduced Tony to George Linder in Key West and George gave his suggestions back to Tony after viewing the boat. Should be good to go.

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

In APBA the boat had to meet Lavin foundation requirements, should be able to find on line.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-06-2005 02:15 PM

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

Being that George Linder was involved in the develpoment of most of the Lavin guidelines with the help of a few other individuals. I think having him view the boat first hand as I had him do in KW along with Tony, a few things were discussed to better the canopy design and I am sure those change will be in place for the rest of the boats built. I was also told that the boat was legal to race with OSS for the 2005 season. I would think if it is legal there it would also be legal in SBI and APBA being they follow the same safety guidelines. I am also sure Tony has more info gathered from the guidelines since Key West. Hope this answers the question.

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

Priarie Dog,
I talk to Peter at Skater back in July about a lid for the Activator...He could do it but he is busy building boats, I also talk to 3 or 4 other Manufactures about building just a lid, some could but it was not cheap or feasable from any of them to do it...

As far as Velocity...the only word I heard is that they were working on a Super V for some time...but not sure if it was on the schedule to be complete for racing in 2005...I also think they will be running a F1 boat again....

MANITIE 01-06-2005 07:54 PM

D-law,

If thats the list of new Super V's for 2005 + the V's that are returning from last year....that puts it up to 21 or 22 Super V's for 2005.....This could be what we have been looking for...

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

Well this is gonna be great. It will emphasize the need for new teams to be cautious in the first few races The depth of talent and experience will be tremendous. I am anxious to see what your sponsorship deal is. If it goes like you are planning it would seem to be the making of inroads into a new level of professional offshore racing. I hope that some of these new teams are able to add to the field in ability as well as professionalism. Bruce and I will give our best effort to represent the sport well. I have been speaking with a few potential sponsors that are very curious to see what this next season brings and possibly invest if the sport looks healthy and presentable. I have a good feeling about the next year for all of the sport.

Re: Canopy's are in!!!

The key with Lavin guidlines is the word Guideline They are not rules they are guidelines.

I really like the look of it but the bad boy 38' canopie looks like it could get very hot with that large back window
