Att: P class teams
Some of the guys up here in NJ have been discussing how we can make the class designations easier to follow from the fans point of view. I know, I have been approached many times by fans to explain the numbering system and have also been told how confusing it is.
With that in mind what are your feelings about proposing a change back to A - E class? ie: Performance A, Permormance B and so on. We hope that SBI and APBA will consider this. If they do, we will be glad to change as well. |
Re: Att: P class teams
It may not be important to the racers but it sure is to the fans and scorers.
Please support this small change, this one's for the fans. |
Re: Att: P class teams
I agree, easier to follow.
|
Re: Att: P class teams
I like the A.B.C. format . Its great for the fans :D
|
Re: Att: P class teams
I totally agree....easier for scorers and fans to follow and it looks better too(A-66 looks better than P5-66).
|
Re: Att: P class teams
P5 - A
P4 - B P3 - C P2 - D p1 - E F = F Actually, if you remember the old A-D class rules, this really works well. |
Re: Att: P class teams
In past years it was slowest, so I think it should stay that way
I don't like slowest, let's call it least fastest :drink: |
Re: Att: P class teams
Great idea, it worked before, it is a proven method for spectators to follow a race and distinguish each class alike. Bruce you da man :D
|
Re: Att: P class teams
Who's attending the APBA meeting later this month? OPA has agreed that if APBA makes the change, OPA will follow. Hopefully SBI would follow as well. Wadda ya think Frank?
Who'll be at the meeting that can put this on the agenda? |
Re: Att: P class teams
I am still up in the air, trying to work it out. Shane B will be there
|
Re: Att: P class teams
It's got my vote! Good idea Bruce.
|
Re: Att: P class teams
This designation system also provides a nice transition into the SPEC PRO CLASSES with A,B,C,D & (E being the highest level PERFORMANCE CLASS)..then F1,F2, Super Vee Light,Super Vee,Super Cat Light and Super Cat.

Re: Att: P class teams
Let PX go without a letter, everyone can recognize them anyway and they look much better with no letter, or just X
|
Re: Att: P class teams
X - 11
Drop the P and call it Performance class racing. Or call it Sportsman's class. |
Re: Att: P class teams
Bruce You got my vote.
|
Re: Att: P class teams
Keep it performance class, sportman sounds like a blowboat class
|
Re: Att: P class teams
I agree with Scotty about the Extreme boats...no letter.
I also agree with Ron about Performance Class being renamed Sportsman Class. Other forms of motorsports like drag racing and off road racing have a Pro and Sportsman Class format...i...and that what is the original divisional classes were called anyway.APBA refers to the SC,SCL,SV,SVL,F2 and F1 classes as Pro Classes, so it makes sense to refer to the others as Sportsman Classes. |
Re: Att: P class teams
I would change the order with A class being the fastest class and then going down from there.

Re: Att: P class teams
I would agree that the letter system is nicer, and that "A" should go to the fastest class.
That would make me D-99, I would be good with it. |
Re: Att: P class teams
The F class guys might not like that.
|
Re: Att: P class teams
Ron, not to dissagree, but what we said was ...being we are the divisional, if ALL the National Bodies changed, then we would as well.
|
Re: Att: P class teams
I agree with Smitty, the letter change would be great only if the other bodies do the same.
|
Re: Att: P class teams
I think this needs to be done.It makes sense.Anyone going to the APBA meeting should bring this up as it seems they are willing to consider any suggestions that will help improve the sport.
