QUOTES

Dave Scott – Owner/Driver – Budweiser Select 44’ Extreme Boat “The boat was running the best it has ever run. It felt really good and was handling great. Everything was working great until one of the engines decided it was going to check out on us.” “The boat liked everything about the course – it was on rails. We wanted to stay on the outside at the beginning of the race. For the first lap, we stayed wide and after we rounded the seventh buoy, we were ready to race. We could sweep the corners at whatever speed we chose. It’s unfortunate the motor let go, because every race is a learning curve and I think we could have learned a lot more about the boat in this race. Unfortunately we had an issue with one of the engines and it cut our day short. The positive to all this is I think the boat will be faster in Jacksonville than it has ever been before, because we learned a lot here in Pickwick.

Johnny Tomlinson – Throttleman – Budweiser Select 44’ Extreme Boat “We started the race and wanted to get out front early. We were running the boat hard when I looked down and saw the oil pressure light come on. I told Dave we had a problem. The gauge was at 20 lbs. of oil pressure, and we normally need to have at least 60 lbs. I slowed the left engine down to see what was going on, but when I did, the engine started vibrating and blew up.”
