Default Outerlimits Powerboats Teams Up With Shadow Yachts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OUTERLIMITS POWERBOATS TEAMS UP WITH SHADOW YACHTS
WHY NOT HAVE IT ALL ON BOARD?

The concept of Outerlimits Powerboats, combining top performance with total luxury, proved the ideal display partner for Shadow Yachts, the ultimate in luxury yacht support vessels. The 225’ Allure model Shadow Yacht on display at the Sail Marina, at the Southeast end of the 17th Street Causeway, will demonstrate how you can take it all with you. The Outerlimits 50’ Catamaran, “Golddigger” and its customized Peterbuilt tow rig will have a visible place alongside the Shadow Yacht, a uniquely designed “toy hauler” enabled by a 35-ton lift and a telescopic crane with a 58’ reach.

The presence of the Golddiger catamaran and rig and the other custom Outerlimits powerboats on display, shows the versatility offered by a Shadow Yacht. When the owner wants to take a high-speed jaunt away from the yacht—to perhaps an area island or off somewhere for lunch or a round of golf, he can simply take off from an anchored base in his 50’ Outerlimits Powerboat and be back in time for dinner—and maybe even a swim or workout in the onboard pool or gym.

Randy Hartmann of Lake Cumberland Marine, Outerlimits’ Midwestern dealer located in Somerset, Kentucky, teamed up with Shadow Yachts’ Tom Gonzalez as they shared customers in the Middle East and around the world. “This is an ideal opportunity to showcase the Outerlimits Powerboat to the yachting audience,” says Hartmann, whose customer base ranges from the ski boat to the sport yacht markets. “We will take this display next to the Dubai Boat Show,” Hartmann adds, where he has sold numerous Outerlimits Powerboats, “We are certain the concept will be well-received and a successful combination.”

Shadow Yachts and Sail Marina are located at 1535 SE 17th Street, Ft. Lauderdale..

OUTERLIMITS POWERBOATS – TODAY’S LEGEND

Background
When Mike Fiore founded Outerlimits Powerboats in 1993, his plans went beyond the norm. While other companies were built on a legacy of performance, Fiore wanted to start his own gold standard. He knew those customers who wanted more—who wanted the best and wanted it their way and his concept of custom powerboat building provided the opportunity for personal care--and flair.

Fiore grew up working in the performance boat business, alongside his father, Paul, and mother, Joyce. From his parents he learned a strong work ethic, and the details of building powerboats—and his business. Fourteen years later, the Fiore family still works together toward a shared goal—building the finest custom powerboats on the market. That mission is felt throughout the Outerlimits company, from the top, down. Boating in an Outerlimits has become a lifestyle, hence the new advertising campaign, “Outerlimits – Live It!”

Construction
The combination of technology and technique makes Outerlimits the strongest, lightest and fastest powerboat. Being the only performance boat manufacturer to use carbon fiber, post-cured epoxy construction, Fiore’s purchase of a former sailboat factory in Bristol, Rhode Island five years ago, enhanced the company’s capabilities. Outerlimits now enjoys an efficient, smooth-running facility, capable of exceeding customer expectations and expanding the production of Outerlimits Powerboats.

With the purchase of the factory, Fiore retained several savvy boat builders who knew the business inside and out. Today, Joe DaSilva in lamination and Steven Dennis in tooling are among the team who work under the direction of Aaron Crawford in operations. He and his staff understand the intricacies of impregnating the carbon fiber fabric with the precise amount of epoxy resin required. They apply each strip of the treated fabric to meticulously prepared molds and each layer of carbon and core is vacuum bagged to eliminate air and excess resin that could weaken or blister the lightweight epoxy construction. Each part then moves on to the computer-controlled oven for curing. This 2-day heating and cooling process facilitates the maximum strength of the epoxy and protects the boat from future reaction to the hot sun. The boat is then “blueprinted” (finely sanded) to prevent any imperfection that could occur in curing. The deck and hull are then joined and bonded with fiberglass to ensure rattle-free, permanent installation.

This keen attention to detail and the use of carbon fiber on such large boats, represents a sizable expense. However, Outerlimits considers the investment in solid, stable construction the most important part of its business. When running in rough water and with high-horse powered engines these boats are equipped to handle—the integrity of the hull ensures a day of problem-free boating.

Graphics & Finishes
Outerlimits construction is matched only by its graceful lines and eye-catching paint schemes. Since each is a piece of custom-built art that reflects the owners’ tastes, color preferences and sometimes “attitude.” From the plush spacious cabins and color-coordinated custom upholstered cockpits, to the high-tech instrumentation, Outerlimits knows no limits in customizing design around an individually created paint theme.

Expanding the canvas to 51’ adds to the intrigue and each Outerlimits is recognized by the artistry of Dean Loucks and The Art of Design (TAOD) team. Blending imagination, talent and the technical expertise necessary to apply the complex finishes, TAOD creates the look that is now exclusively “Outlerlimits.”

Service
Outerlimits stands behind every boat it builds and its service is second-to-none—ask the company’s customers. Overwhelmingly, customers state the technology and quality of the boats are their reason for buying Outerlimits, but they immediately follow with a comment on service. “The guys in red”—the service team is a constant sight at boating events. As a support crew with their own service center in Bristol and NASCAR-style transporter on the road, they are always prepared, making certain that Outerlimits customers finish events hassle-free. “We back what we build” is an Outerlimits motto that speaks of the family business that treats customers like family.

Strong, Safe and Sound
To further ensure the safety of its customers, Outerlimits includes an operator certification course at the Tres Martin Performance School with each purchase. Martin, an offshore racing champion, custom rigger and powerboat veteran, grew up in the business with his father, Ralph Martin, a pioneer of the current recreational Poker Run phenomena. He started the school to respond to the need for more education in powerboating as the boats increased in size and speed. The combination of classroom and in-boat training provides clients with everything from the basics, to the fine points of safely and smartly running a high-performance boat.

“If I can save lives, I’m doing my part to help this industry,” says Martin, “On demonstrating their knowledge and earning their certificates, clients may also receive a discount in their insurance rates—another advantage.” “We want our customers to enjoy their new Outerlimits in complete safety,” adds Fiore, “They deserve the absolute best support available and that is why we offer this course to every 2007 customer. Client satisfaction and safety are our top commitments.”
