It’s a race of attrition – you still have to push the equipment, but you have to do your best to save it at the same time. When you have three races, anything can happen, as we’ve seen in years past. But Key West has been good to us. We have won the world championship every year we’ve come to Key West. This year everything went as good as it could possibly go. I couldn’t be happier with winning all three races and lapping everyone in the process. The crew did a fantastic job with the boat all week. We set a pace and ran our own race. That was the key…” “We changed out both motors on Wednesday after blowing an engine in the race that day. We had originally planned to bring an extra set to run on Sunday, but had to change our game plan a bit. It worked out for us though, because the engines we put in lasted through Friday and Sunday’s races with no issues. That’s where the crew comes in. They are without a doubt the best. They are the top of the food chain when it comes to offshore racing and maintaining a boat. They knew what they had to do and did it.” “It felt great to bring home this title, especially in the way we were able to do it. It’s great to see all our hard work pay off. Not only did we win, but we were able to lap the whole field, including the much larger, 5,000 HP turbine boat along with the boat we won the world championship with two years ago [now belonging to AquaMania]. It is a great accomplishment, and I am proud of our whole team.” Johnny Tomlinson – Throttleman – Budweiser Select Offshore Team “Obviously I couldn’t be happier for our whole Bud Select Crew. Everyone did a great job, and I am proud to be a part of such a successful team.” CAREER TEAM STATS – Wins 63 – National Championship Titles 10 – World Championship Titles 8 – Top Gun Titles 5 – Official Speed Records 6 50’ MYSTIC BOAT FACTS Name: Budweiser Select Mystic Fuel Capacity: 500 gallons Width: 12 feet Race Weight: 11,750 lbs Length: 50 feet, 4 inches Drives: Tri-Max Surface Drivers Fuel: Chevron Phillips 118 Octane Boat Manufacturer: Mystic Powerboats Inc Power: Two 1500 bhp Sterling Performance Engines Average Race Speed: 160+ mph Rigging: TNT Custom Marine Make: C5000 2007 SCHEDULE/RESULTS February 1 – 4 Bud Bowl Miami, Florida March 23 – 25 OSS Biloxi, Mississippi First Place April 20 – 22 OSS Greers Ferry, Arkansas First Place May 4 – 6 OSS Pickwick, Tennessee First Place June 29 – July 1 SBI Sarasota, Florida First Place July 27 – 29 OPA St. Clair, Michigan Second Place August 17 – 19 OSS Orange Beach, Alabama First Place August 24 – 26 Lake Rescue Shootout Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri 44’ MTI First Place 50’ Mystic First Place 44’ Turbine First Place September 28 – 30 OSS Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri Third Place National Championship National Champions November 4 – 11 SBI Key West, Florida First Place World Championship World Champions |
