THE OUTERLIMITS 50’ CAT FEATURED AT MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW
CORPORATE POKER RUN BOAT FOR 2008

Outerlimits would not build a ***** cat. This 50’catamaran is bred for the wild—water, spirit and colors! Built totally of carbon fiber, the cat is also strong and stealthy, light enough to land softly, but tough enough to hand rough water. Powered with stock Mercury Racing 1200’s the cat has seen speeds upwards of 160 mph; it is wild at heart, but handles easily and tamely under a skilled driver’s hand.

Mike Fiore, owner and president of Outerlimits, will prove the cat’s prowess this season as he runs the 50 foot feline in cities across the country in the 2008 Poker Run circuit. “We are very proud of all the engineering and testing that went into this model and the Mercury Racing 1200’s have made it an amazing ride. We’ve tested this fall and winter in Bristol and in all kinds of seas, this boat holds its own!”

Like all Outerlimits Powerboats, the 50 Cat is highly technical in construction, materials and instrumentation. The engine compartment is carbon fiber “monocoque” construction, French for “eggshell,” so the seamless bilge is stronger and absorbs stress. Used in airplanes and races cars, the uni-body shell isolates engine vibration and noise. The rest of the hull is also carbon fiber and epoxy and while it is available as a shaft-drive, the Michael Peters designed bottom has been tweaked by Outerlimits for the new 2008 stern-drive model displayed at the show. Post-curing (slow baking and cooling in a computerized oven) gives each Outerlimits Powerboat a durable finish that stands up to all Mother Nature’s wrath.

Various power options are available, but Mercury Racing’s 1200 engines, with the super-charged 557–cubic inch V-8 cylinder block, provide an ideal power package for this sleek, muscular cat. Mercury describes the 1200’s which run on high-octane fuel, as “...docile around docks and ferocious once unleashed....” Purrrfect!

While it is available as an open canopy recreational boat, some Outerlimits customers like the feel of an enclosed cockpit. Whether to feel snug and secure in a 5-point harness or to weather the elements, in either model, comfort is the operative word. The cockpit is luxurious, but cabins are often seen as superfluous for a boat that was designed for speed and day jaunts, jumping waves and riding the water’s edge. Fine leathers, carpeting, state-of-the-art instrumentation and computerized electronics make the Outerlimits 50 Cat, not just a powerboat, but a species all of its own.

See the 50’ Cat at booth 3330 of the Miami Beach Convention Center Patio, along with a 46’ Limited and the new SV 43. A new model, the 41 Super Leggera, will also be on display at slip #210 at Sea Isle Marina, downtown Miami.
