Engine Trouble Ends Day Early For Bud Light Offshore Team on Lake Havasu
POST RACE FACTS
– Second race of the Offshore Super Series (OSS) season
– Second-place finish for Bud Light Offshore Team
– 21 total boats competed this weekend
– 2 boats competed in Cat Extreme Class
– Ran five laps on the 4.9-mile course before engine trouble forced return to dock

“The team did a good job this weekend. It was good to get Mike and Johnny back in the boat and get more experience running together. This was our first race on Lake Havasu, and it’s unfortunate that we ran into engine trouble so early in the race.”
“The boat really isn’t suited for short racecourses, and that’s exactly what we encountered this weekend. The next three races, we’ve got ocean races, so we should be in good shape on all three of those”

“All in all it was a good weekend, until race day. I think we had favorable conditions on Saturday to do very well. But then on Sunday the weather got real calm and the racecourse went to real flat water. It was such a short racecourse, only a 4.9-mile lap, which is a little short to get the big boat moving and going to run with the smaller CRC boat. I felt like we may have been at a disadvantage on acceleration starting the race and that kind of showed. CRC out-accelerated us to the first turn and being such a short racecourse with short straightaways, I don’t know if we had enough to run with them. I don’t think we would have in the bigger boat, since it was so calm and so short.”
“I had problems early in the race. The second lap is when I started noticing problems with the engines. We ended up burning up an intercooler on one of the engines and got water in the engine and had to bring it in early. That was disappointing that we weren’t able to finish the race due to the engine problems. We really had nothing for them, because we had problems so early.
