Default Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

For the second year in a row, the Lightning Performance Group 32’ Skater won their class at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, with a speed of 133 MPH in the 1 mile course. This not only put them at the top of their class, but it was also the fastest speed posted by any non-supercharged boat at the Shootout. Coan Engineering's "Powershift XMT" 2-speed transmission allowed them to get off to a great start and achieve a higher top speed than would have been possible with a standard transmission. Using the transmission’s low gear helped the Skater to get on plane more quickly, which gave the boat more time to reach a higher speed. Despite the strain of two days of racing and over 140 miles of running, the transmissions worked flawlessly all weekend. These unique transmissions helped to give the 32’ Skater a major advantage over their competitors.

Lightning Performance Group had their display trailer on exhibit at the Shootout, which featured a Coan 2-speed transmission and many marine products and engines available through LPG. The V-16, a new creation by Keith Eickert and Don Onken, created quite a stir from the onlookers. This engine is combination of two V-8 engines, coupled together to run as one, which allows for 1,500 to 1,800 hundred horsepower while running on pump gas and eliminating the reliability issues of one high horsepower engine. Lightning Performance Group also offers a full line of bolt on parts including intake systems, serpentine drive belts and many other bolt-on accessories. Visitors to the LPG set-up were very impressed with the Coan 2-speed transmission on display and showed a lot of interest in the possibility of using them. Lightning Performance Group would like to thank everyone for checking out all of their new products. If you need any information on the products on display you can contact Keith Eickert or Don Onken at 309-562-7271 or check out the web site at www.lightningperformancegroup.com
