Default Team Amsoil Offshore Racing Wins World Championship In Key West, Fl

Capping off a near perfect winning season, Team AMSOIL Offshore won a second consecutive World Championship Title at the season finale in Key West, Florida. Team AMSOIL Offshore also won the 2009 Super Boat International, Offshore Super Series, and OPA National Championship Titles and the second consecutive Triple Crown. Team AMSOIL Offshore finished in first place in all but one race that was entered during the 2009 season.

The Key West World Championships consisted of three races held on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The first two races counted for one-half of the total points. Then the Sunday race, which is also twice the distance, counted for the other half of the available points. Team AMSOIL placed first in all three races.

On Friday night, the Team AMSOIL Offshore race boat was displayed in the middle of the street festival on Duval Street in Key West. The fans were lining up to get a close look at the boat, talk to Paul and Bob, and look at the AMSOIL products on display.

The conditions in Key West were rough on Wednesday and were smoother on Friday and Sunday, which required a different set up for each day. The Team AMSOIL crew worked diligently to keep the boat in top running condition. Team AMSOIL’s crew also spent quite a bit of time working on one of its opponent’s boats, “ALL JACKED UP”, helping their team to stay in the race and be competitive. During a test session of their boat on Saturday with Bob Teague throttling, and Morten Lindeman driving (who normally throttles their boat), the boat was flipped due to a maneuver to avoid a collision on the course. Bob Teague and Morten rescued themselves from the capsized boat and assisted the tow boat to right the race boat. The entire Team AMSOIL crew spent the evening trying to get the boat back in racing condition for Sunday’s race. The boat ultimately could not make the start due to a damaged engine.

Team AMSOIL ran the same pair of Mercury 525EFI Racing engines for the entire season with no failures or rebuilds. The VISSM Mercury drives were also run the whole season without requiring any service. The reliability of the drive trains in this severe environment is directly related to the use of AMSOIL Dominator 15W-50 engine oil and the MCF transmission oil used in the stern drives.

The Team AMSOIL Skater is slated to have maintenance and upgrades performed over the winter including rebuilding the engines, and replacing the canopy glass. All systems are being checked so Team AMSOIL can dominate again in 2010.

AMSOIL’s great sponsorship package, dedicated racing department team and superior lubricants all make it possible for Team AMSOIL Offshore Racing to achieve success! Teague Custom Marine is an authorized AMSOIL dealer and offers the complete line of high performance lubricants in its store and for purchase over the phone.

See you at the races!
