BISHOP-WISECARVER SENDS HOLIDAY CARE PACKAGES TO U.S. SOLDIERS
Reminding American troops overseas that they are not forgotten this holiday season

Pittsburg, CA - - December 20th, 2011 - - Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation, manufacturer of the original DualVeeŽ guide wheel and industry leader in guided motion technology, has sent care packages to a troop of U.S. soldiers stationed in Afghanistan this holiday season.

"It's important to remind them, especially this time of year, that they're not forgotten," said Bishop-Wisecarver President Pamela Kan. "They're out there protecting our freedoms and this is a way for us to say 'thank you.'"

Kan was inspired to give by her fellow members of the Women Presidents Organization (WPO) Diablo Valley chapter who had already been sending care packages to 24-year-old Bay Area native Sgt. Patrick Thisius and his troop for several months. Kan said she wanted to chip in something extra for the holidays. The packages will go to 30 soldiers stationed at a remote operating base in northeastern Afghanistan.

"It means so much, this generosity, because they lead such hard lives out there," said Ann Blackburn, Thisius' aunt and WPO member. "They sleep with their boots on and wake up to a world with no trees, all desert and nothing familiar."

Thisius is one of six children in a family with a long line of military men and women. This year will be the third time his service overseas will keep him apart from his family during the holidays.

"It means so much to us that people care enough to send a little bit of Christmas to him," said his mother Sharel Thisius. "It's tough for them this time of year to be away from their families."
