Point Pleasant Race Date Moved
 

As you know the Point Pleasant race had been schduled for Sunday June 28th and we were prepared to run this race without a purse.

After a call from Jenkinsons, - our longstanding title sponsor, it made sense to try and move the race. The problem has always been getting a CG permit for a weekend race. Well, after a lot of work we showed the Coast Guard that late August is no more busy that May. It's June and July that are the real busy summer months.

This will be the first time in 35 years that we've run a race on a weekend in July or August. Hopefully this will be available to us in future years too.

Jenkinsons is willing to support the race in late August because it will draw a crowd back to the beach only last time for the year.

For this reason, the Point Pleasant Race has been officially moved to the weekend of August 26 and 27, please mark your calendars.

With this move, we expect to be able to offer the full $25,000 purse at this race. Please stay tuned.

We are 100 percent behind OPA, but we have committed to LOTO that weekend and have some TV lined up. Point is one of my favorite races and I hate to miss it. You got to do whats best and we'll see you guys at the others. Congrats on bringing Jenks back in :drink:

Hey how long is it from providence RI to point pleasant do you thing towing the boat miles and hours to get there I've been getting to the bronx's in 3 to 31/2 hrs and I'm 20 mins from prov RI HERE IN EASTON. I WANT TO TRY AND MAKE A COUPLE RACES.

depends on the time of day you leave. with no traffic, you can make it to point from the Cross Bronx Expswy in 2 hours or less.

Take the Tappen Zee. It will be 5 hours pulling a boat from Providence to Point Pleasant.

It will be worth the trip, :D Just get into Point before 2pm on Friday or after 10 pm to avoid the weekend traffic.

Maybe someone should do a new boat count for this race, there may be other teams that cant make it under such short notice?



Just a thought... Especially if people made prior flight arrangements like myself.
