Super Cat Press Release
Super Cat
Press Release The 2007 Super Cat season will prove to be an interesting one for all of the teams and race fans, also known as OSS Cat and Superboat we have joined together to promote the New Super Cat Class yes the New Class. We plan on Super Cat evolving into the Premier Class in the U.S.A. and possibly worldwide, providing the most exciting and competitive racing ever offered in Offshore Racing for the fans. Over the last 3 months the members: JD Byrider, Reliable Carriers (Current National OSS Champion), Nichols Offshore (Current OSS World Champion), BTM Marine (Current SBIP/APBA/UIM World Champion), CMS/Castaway, Warpaint, & Flying Tiger have been in constant communication in developing a more fun and fan friendly environment to race in for the 2007 season. We are currently developing a schedule for the 2007 season and plan on awarding the World Championship title for the class in Key West this season. Our current team members include some of the best racers in the sport of Offshore, Steve Curtis 5 time Class 1 UIM World Champion, Billy Moore, Mitch Miller, Bennie Robinson, and many more, all either current or past National or World Champions and Kilo record holders. Some of the changes we have all unanimously decided on are to race within all sanctioning bodies, this would enable the teams to help unify the sport, meet more people and go to different locations as well as provide more sponsorship & exposure opportunities for the teams and class. The other rules we have adopted allow for more competition, we now allow shaft and rudder boats in the class, have opened up the drive, engine, propeller, and boat specification to other manufactures, and allow the active class members the ability to make concessions or parity adjustments to bring in new and or existing equipment into our class. Not only will the teams be competing for a championship, so will the manufactures of engines, drives, and propellers as well to offer a True World Championship Class. As Members of the class we will work to be recognized by the fans, fellow racers, sanctioning bodies, promoters, and sponsors as the premier class in Offshore Racing that is focused on building an affordable class to race in that provides fair and equitable competition for all of the teams involved. We are committed to support the majority decisions of the class and will fully support as a combined team the Class Majority and their decisions. We are committed to having fun as a group, enjoying the sport, fellowship, and will not tolerate any unprofessional activities. We will not allow any Single Source programs that dictate to the team owners a mandated source for equipment. We will insure active teams with current equipment will not be required to spend additional monies to participate in the class on a competitive level. We will not become a sanctioning body or get involved in the political environment. We will support as many of the sanctioning bodies and race site promoters as possible and commit to providing the best show possible for the fans and participants. Our long term direction is to allow current equipment owners the ability to race competitively as long as they wish to and all new boats being built to migrate to a spec that can be built and provided by any engine, boat, or drive manufacture with minimal effort. Our number one rule is to have fun and we look forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming 2007 racing season. If you are interested in racing with us and willing to commit to the mission above please contact any of the class members listed above as we will work together to help get you up and running competitively in the 2007 season. Re: Super Cat Press Release
Will you be running with OPA? Perhaps St Clair and Cambridge.
|
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Schedule to follow in a few weeks, as of now we are planning on at least one.
|
Re: Super Cat Press Release
very interesting, sounds like a good plan, we just might have to make Key West reservations again:D . I guess you guys plan on taking your boats to what ever races suit your fancy. I am no expert in the rules of each organization, so I am wondering, does this mean you will all have to join SBI/APBA, OSS, OPA, and any other organizations you wish to race with.
|
Re: Super Cat Press Release
The OPA is in full support of this venture. We have opened the doors to the ORL, and the new Super Cat class. Yes they will be racing with OPA, as well as all the other racing organizations. I know I speak for all the OPA teams when I say welcome aboard. Smitty

Re: Super Cat Press Release
Thanks Smitty,
All organizations have fees to pay and always have. They have to generate revenue to continue putting on races for everyone to race. We are no different than anyone else, so yes we plan to join and pay the fees just like everyone else. |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Thats great news, good luck with it guys I hope it works and maybe some other classes will follow suit.

Re: Super Cat Press Release
How many classes are we up to now? The starts are going to be a ***** and I hope we dont confuse the fans any more than we are. And we thought the P was confusing to the fans wait till they try and figure out 9 classes running at once. I hate to sound like a party crasher but remember what our goal is at OPA? It was 5 classes with lots of competition in less classes with large purses, large boat counts and lots of fun! Build your boat to fit in one of these classes and run what you bring. I would hate to slip into building classes for a few boats just to try to get a higher boat count. We all cant get a checkered flag. And who wants to race against no one? Lets keep it simple and vote on it as an organization at the meeting.

Re: Super Cat Press Release
Randy, say what you feel. The Super cats should stay with OSS. I agree. How ever they have decided to do their own thing, and want to run one or two of our events. We have already commited to do so, and have the sites putting up more money, because they are there. We see a value in that class. Our intention was never to grow at the expense of another organization. Our goal was to bring in new talent and move them up. To help grow the larger series. It is not our fault the teams dont want to go there. In time I am sure it will all work out. I understand you feelings completely. Smitty

Re: Super Cat Press Release
WELCOME to our SUPERCAT Brothers and Sisters. I love the # ONE RULE, "HAVE FUN"
|
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Randy,
Instead of worrying about a class that you have no ties to, why dont you motivate your fellow F1 racers in P5 to move into Hollis' deal and then the P6 boats would fit nicley back into P5 hence eliminating a class.(That is is what you want, right?) Just a thought and that is something within your control. Good luck to you this year and be safe no matter where you race. And as Augie said," Have Fun!" I know thats something your team knows how to do. Trent |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
This has nothing to do with OSS. Its about keeping as few classes as possible to put on a better show for the fans that watch OPA. I am simply stating that more boats per class is a better show. I hope to see the 750 boats at some of the OPA race sites or all of them. They are more than welcome to run anywhere they want its there boat.
Shane I believe OSS have 7 classes not 9. MD |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
This was the best news I've seen yet. Hope they make the trip to St. Clair! Super Cat is why probably half the crowd is there anyways!
Concerning class count...who the hell cares about adding a class with all the benefits that come with having a premier class like super cat?! The pros FAR out way any cons. So with two starts we're still only running about 4 classes. |

Shane I believe OSS have 7 classes not 9. MD I gave you an option but you overlooked it and you can be the hero within the organization that brings it up at the meeting. I wont tell anyone that I suggested it to you.:evilb: I apologize that your getting jumped on, but I have seen you flying the flag for so long and anyone that goes against the almighty OSS, you have trashed, so I for one thought thats where you were coming from. Cant you see that the leaders in this sport have had enough of the BS and seperation and are running with all clubs and the sanctioning body that the country has to offer. One reason, to better the sport. Mr Haggin, Mr Bull and the others are leading by example and I for one will do my best to support them in their endeavors. Anytime you want to start and run your own club by all means do so, but until then you guys have entrusted Smitty to make the best decisions that benefits OPA. When you can do half the job that he has to better the sport, we will all support you. Trent PS According to the OSS website there are currently 8 classes of boats and with the addition of the 850 class that will bring the total to 9 |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Thanks Trent but what does any of that have to do with sticking to the classes that we already have? My suggestion would be put them in with the existing PX class. Not more classes. Whats next Turbine,SVL,SV,SCL,Single Out board,Jersey skiff. where does it end in a regional run what you brung group of guys. Should we add the 15 classes that SBI has as well? We run our SVL in P4 and have a blast. Maybe we should ask the 750 guys if they dont mind running in the PX class until they have 5 or more boats. I will take it one step further guys, If you dont have 5 boats in a class then then that class gets moved up to the next class until you can field at least 5 boats. Build boats for classes not classes for boats! Smitty has done a great job and I could never fill half his shoes and I am not trying to Trent. Just making suggestions.
PS You dont even race with OPA!!! MD |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Trent I sure hope they send you up here to race some with OPA! We may not agree on much these days but as racers Im sure we could have some fun on the course.

Re: Super Cat Press Release
I Was Fine With The Rules That Were InPlace Until 2006 But Then Everyone Was Crying To Start A P6 Class,
So The F1 Guys Had A Place To Run That Would HAve Giving Us 5 Classes Still To This Day, With A Px Boat Showing Up Once And A While I Think The SuperCat Guys Running With Us Is Awesome, They Will Bring Alot To The Table |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Ted I wasnt quiet think that way.:D Trent I hope you dont mind the bottom.
MD |
Re: Super Cat Press Release
Chris, just one question. Do you feel you cant hang with a F1 boat at 75 MPH? I dont care what class you race in as I have stated before. You are a perfectly legal P6 boat in my book. If you want more of a challenge its your call to move up. Dont take all the BS so hard. You are a racer at hart like most of us and want to do the best you can. I will see you on Sat.
MD |
NOTE: SUPER CAT PRESS RELEASE! That's what this thread started out to be. The Jersey Boyz WELCOME you all.
|
Sorry guys I got side tracked. Yeh what Augie said!
MD |
I agree with Randy once again, I apologize Mr Pensa and I removed all posts not relating.
Trent |
Thank You Guy's. We WELCOME Everybody, Anybody and then some! See you nuts tonight.
