L.I. "Battle on the Bay" lodging
 

The Radisson Hotel has stepped up to the plate and givin us some great rates for the race. $119.00 per nite for racers and fans. Just tell them your with the OPA or the Battle on the Bay and they will give you this rate. It's easy to find and it's right off the L.I. Expressway exit 63, it has a restaurant and a bar and is 15 minutes from the race site. Seth Korin of our race team checked all the area hotels and did a great job securing these rooms at these prices, he's the man! Call and book to hold your room asap, so if we need to hold more we will have time to do so.

It's on Long Island, its a 6.5 mile course on the Great South Bay. Viewing and dry pits will be at the Shore Front Park, Patchogue Village, as will the crane and wet pits. We are working with the Village to have live music at the park, Friday evening we are putting some of the race boats on Main street, where all the bars and restaurants are. Saturday will be a day at the park with cars and bikes on display, food and prerace testing. Sunday will be the races. So come on down! or up lol. Louie

Yep course is laid out, depths have been checked, we are east of the Davis Park/ Watch hill ferry's and the Patchogue River. This site has a history of racing, last race was in 86' from the info i've dug up, they stopped racing because it was a shipping lane for Amareta-Hess Fuel, plants closed, no more tankers so were back. Just a reminder about LI.
For those coming ......... You cannot, I repeat CANNOT take tralier your boat on the Belt Parkway (no commercial vehicles, trailers nor duallys are permitted on that road. And yes, this includes duallys that are not trailering, they are not permitted.) You must take the BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway) to the LIE (Long Island Expressway)

Couldn't do it with out my friends and the OPA. I got a new shirt from my Daughters for my B-day. It's a Tommy Bahama and says the "Rum Father, I'll make you a drink you can't refuse" lol. Ah Freeport, spent my summers there at my Grandparents , rolled and sunk my 1st race boat there, a mini hydro plane, with cable steering. ah the good ole days. Happy Easter. Louie

I was going after Ken Warby's record I fell short by 310 mph.

We are working on that with a couple of marina's right now. We are still finding spots for the boats we are relocating for the crane area and wet pits. Sayville and Bayport have a few spots and we may have some right on the Patchogue river, if your traveling with a go fast, Lindenhurst and Bayshore could also be options. It it also possible we can set a raft up in Swans Creek. We will know better when we get a little closer I've been asking people when the are taking there summer trips, lol, and a lot of them are saying they want to stay around for the race, go figure, there always complaining about the noise we make when we are testing there now they can't get enough. If you need any of the info we are printing up, PM me and I'll send you some stuff.

Hey Wahoo & Louie Whats Happening?

They never came to see me for my Birthday, now they have called down the Thunder!! I painted Wahoo on the office cat ,(why we have an office cat is beyond me) now every time I walk into the room he hisses and heads for the hills, he senses that I am the Cat Killer junior. If I was better at this computer stuff I would post them for you but, the site is oparacing.org and it will give you a pletherer of information such as dates, teams etc. The LI race is the 26th of August, boats start coming in on the 23rd.

I am quietly observing ......... planning and plotting ....... my deviant mind is at work, it's at full trottle. I know you ain't afraid of them egg beaters, you got REAL motors. I already picked out the "I spanked Team Wahoo in Key West" tattoo! And besides, when I saw that they thought a fountain and a urinal were the same ...... well, that explained it all. I do hope they drink from the ones with the urinal cakes though, I hear that yellow water is some bad stuff. (Kinda like when told as a kid "Don't eat the yellow snow".)
