Adrenaline Rush....great to hear your running some OPA events. The OSS Vee Lites run in OPA Class 4.
Hope to see you in Ocean City,MD.

TYPHOON 03-16-2008 09:39 PM

Chris and Jay, Whats the boat going to be called? Heater you will be running in class 4 with the canopy I believe but ask Smitty.
MD

TYPHOON 03-16-2008 09:43 PM

This is exactly what our sport needs! More boats per class and less classes. Build boats for classes and thin out the others!!!!!!

I could care less what class you put me in.As long as I'm there racing.Hell, give me a set of oars and I'll keep up with you guys,I've got enough adrenaline built up to keep up with MS.Geico:cool-smiley-026:

I have been following The birth of your new rocket. Best of luck with those SVL guys in Biloxi. That class is going to be great to watch. Great work Mr. Schleuss.

And....welcome to OPA. Ocean City is just what that boats needs. Smitty

Mark,

spoke with Alan a few weeks ago, he issued #503 to us.

I do have one question, with the possibility of 20 boats taking the start, dont we need some kind of lane assignments, I vote for the guy with the smallest engine gets the pole position every race, oops that would be me:cool-smiley-027:

Trent

Wazzup Racing 03-17-2008 11:43 AM

Trent, we are going to have a little drinking contest on Saturday to determine lanes.. Beer Pong anyone?

TYPHOON 03-17-2008 05:47 PM

Super Heat, Show us some pics of your boat. I have the same 29 Kryptonite I believe. What power are you going to run? Have you raced before? If you need any help PM me.
MD

TYPHOON 03-17-2008 06:03 PM

Trent makes a good point. Any ideas on the start? 20 boats squeezing into a 10 foot hole will only lead to fiber glass repair.
And also are we all ok with its racing if we hit? There has never been any rules who is to blame and you owe me because it was your fault type of thing. It is very passable that there may be some bumping happening. I am in no way saying go rub its OK but with so many boats it could happen. I would like to make sure we are all on the same page. Its not uncommon to be shooting for the first couple of pins and your boat is bouncing a good 5' to the right and 5' to the left and $hit can happen quick. I have been hit before and yes it sucks and yes it cost me money but in my opinion that was part of the game. Are you guys OK with this?
MD

Reindl Powerboats 03-17-2008 06:17 PM

Heater, glad we could help you catch the fever - I warned you it was very addicting. You gonna make Havasu? We left the stickers on one side in case you decide to race double duty one these events - the new motors worked out nicely, and added two new boats to our fleet this year.

Superheat...what number are you planning on running?I think the list is pretty accurate,so you can see which numbers are already taken.Your team makes three Kryptonites running in Class 5.

HERBT 03-17-2008 08:46 PM

Class 5 Racing

Add another boat to class 5. Looks like I'm moving up a class. I was in class 6 with the little 21 Intimidator and now a 27 Excalibur.

secret squirrel 03-17-2008 09:11 PM

off the hook!!

Smitty you have some work cut out for you with class 5, we might have to run a heat race on Sat. just to make room for all these boats. Just a thought. Or just play Beer Pong for lanes, 2 rows deep Nascar style start:D

F1-00 Racing 03-17-2008 11:54 PM

Seriously, how about a time trial, 50-70 and the slowest time gets the pole and like Pat said have a two row start, this way it makes it even and takes out the Crocket/Dukes Factor(lol) kinda like OSS does with its lineup, last place boat from the previous race takes the pole

1waterboy1 03-18-2008 07:25 AM

I think we should start like we always have.In the hey days of F1 Class, and before that in A Class;there were often starts with at least 15 boats and sometimes 20 or more.It adds a real element of strategy to the race.Instead of being hung up on the outside, some teams may choose to fall in behind the line up and look for an opening after the first turn sorts itself out.Being on the inside is not always the best place to be anyway.I know Smitty is also looking to design some courses that will be more challenging and exciting than the standard four pin rectangle.I think the key to safe starts with alot of boats is to turn us loose as we are coming out of the last turn on the parade lap.It is the responsibility of the teams to make sure they are where they need to be in order to get a safe and competitive starting position.A starting formation of rows of two will turn into a boat parade real quickly. After all,in the calm water races with everyone running right at the class speed limit;how is a team going to make up all of that distance if they are starting in the back?Just my opinion.

Superheat 03-18-2008 07:25 AM

Hello all, thanks for the help. I will attach some photos later today, I'm looking to run 552 as our number. It dosen't appear to be used so I should be fine with this.

Superheat 03-18-2008 07:27 AM

Hey Herb, I thought you sold that boat

HERBT 03-18-2008 08:43 AM

Class 5

No I did'nt sell it. I'm trying, I found a superboat that I want to buy, but intill this one goes I'm going to use it. I just put a pair of 250s on it. So I'm going to have some fun with it.

I have to say, this is what we dreamed of 5 yrs ago. Intead of filling the pits with old race boats with no power just to make it look good, I am now looking for larger pit areas to fit all the boats into. I think we should do away with all the other classes, and all build a single engine 30 ft boat. One class.....the next dream. Smitty

Superheat 03-18-2008 10:06 AM

Herb, I just officially put my 30 up for sale. I have it listed on here. I'm

Hey guys, how about drawing numbers for the first race, and after that go by points. The point leader starts on the outside, and the boat or team in last place points will start on the inside. Just an idea.

Is anyone up for a class 5 party? I have a shop in S.Plainfield NJ that we can have a party at. I will buy the hamburgers, hot dogs, and a couple kegs of beer and we can all talk smack:angry-smiley-038: We might even bring back the crane jousting competition. I did this a few years back and we had a blast. And yes everybody is invited. I dont care what class you are in because some of us have no class:party-smiley-004:

Waterboy...

No biggie, but MotorCity Offshore is 519 not 514. might want to update for those still choosing their numbers. I've been pushing to move up to class 4 but none of the class 4 boats have panned out yet.
