This is printable, but you will need a pdf reader

The course is layed out on GPS and will be all left turns, Total length is 4.88 miles at the pins. I would say round up to 5 unless your able to make sharp tunrs.

Wazzup Racing 07-15-2008 12:30 PM

What happened to the figure 8 ?

Pete B 07-15-2008 12:34 PM

Dean and I looked into that last night, even discussed class 2 boats being chained to the rear of class 1 boats, but the Insurance would not allow it.

You will have good viewing from Metro and Beacons Cove but we needed to watch out for the teams and keep the course in deep water "just in case"

according to those GPS numbers, you are looking at about 1100 yards if you are shooting from those green lines on shore.

Unfortunately that might be correct, I do know Dean said all positions are approximate and may change.

Maybe once the double check the depth and see the water level is up a couple feet they can bring everything in closer.

But at this time those are the number I was given to work with.

I was just asking, I went to OC just to shoot some with my new eqipment, and was very disappointed to say the least,
however Bruce (Imax) told me he could get me closer next time.

This past weekend provided a great back drop from the Roostertail turn for the unlimiteds!!

how far can you reasonably shoot? are you shooting harrison or st clair?

2 Trick Rick 07-15-2008 02:19 PM

Sean,
I Just got a e-mail from Dean and the water is MUCH deeper than the charts should.

I should have new GPS numbers shortly.

Pete B 07-15-2008 02:22 PM

I know about St.Clair and it is a great place to shoot, as for Harrison, I may be there, however will not bother to drag along all my equipment if everything is too far offshore.

Wazzup Racing 07-15-2008 02:45 PM

Pete, we have approval in Ocean City next year to move the coarse in. They decided to close the beaches. Last year we parked a race boat on the beach, it made a tough argument.

I understand the city caused this, all I am saying is to all who attend they want to see a race, while its great if on a turn boat or Helo. for the average fan or someone who doesnt have connections. it would leave for a bit of a disappointment.
while most that attend races are the casual observer, the hardcore fan, Photographers, etc want be up close.

I can handle a couple of hundred yards, but 1000 is a bit off.

PatriYacht 07-15-2008 03:22 PM

The best way is to watch from a boat. The water is shallow and the sharp point of the triangle is a sandy beach that drops off slowly. I would go to Beacon Cove if not on a boat.

2 Trick Rick 07-15-2008 03:22 PM

Well no worries about viewing for Harrison, The GPS # Dean just sent puts the first turn in a parking lot!

Once he sends the right number we will have anything updated. But I was told its around 300yrds offshore and closer in a couple areas.

Pete B 07-15-2008 03:32 PM

The cranes are at Beacon Cove correct??

I have a feeling thats where I will end up.

4.88, but just round up to 5

Wahoo ATV 07-16-2008 08:03 AM

Everyone Relax. The course is layed out on GPS and we have run it multiple times. It will be all left turns. Total length is 4.88 miles at the pins exactly.

Pete if you are coming to town and would like to take pictures, please find me in the pits and I will make sure you have the best seat in the house on a turn boat or S/F cruise ship. I would like to meet you anyway.

AugiePensa 07-16-2008 08:08 AM

Pete, come see me. I'll put you wherever you want that I can make happen.

Ms PatriYacht 07-16-2008 11:21 AM

Pete we plan to be watching it from our boat, you are welcome to join us, just PM me your contact info.

Pete B 07-16-2008 11:59 AM

Thank you all, for the invite, Not 100% sure what my duties will entail when I get there, so being out on a boat might not work so well, however I will let you all know, when I get there.
But first I have to leave Fla. and drive many miles:(....
The truck is ready, just the tag-along has some minor issues!

Hey Donna I still have my official Team Patriyacht shirt from the smoke run...does that give me access to the Black Thunder party?! :cool-smiley-027:

You guys get a slip at Beacon or Metro?

Ms PatriYacht 07-16-2008 03:26 PM

Neil
if you would like to watch the race from our boat you are welcome, we are going to be flexible and move around a little bit. Our plan is to stay at the back bay of Metro on Saturday night, hopefully they don't fill up. I talked to the park and they did not think so. My cell number is 248-425-0159 just check in with us Saturday or Sunday morning. You will bring beer right:D

mesablue 07-16-2008 08:37 PM

Will there be any public viewing at Beacons Cove or is it closed off?

NoShow 07-17-2008 08:34 AM

From what I have heard closed to public...

Wahoo ATV 07-17-2008 09:27 AM

Beacon Cove is NOT PUBLIC. You can rent a tranisent slip and enjoy the race from the pool or hot tub.

NoShow 07-17-2008 10:33 AM

I was told they did not have any transient slips. Anyone know for sure?

DriverofDonzi 07-17-2008 11:08 AM

Wahoo,

I know that marina is private but that means we cant go into there to watch races?

Chris

Your not running this weekend?

Ms PatriYacht 07-17-2008 12:44 PM

I just called Beacon Cove 586-463-3864 They do have transient slips available, the cost is $65.00 $75.00 $100.00 depending on the size; example 30' $75.00 40' $100.00. It was confirmed it is not public, so to be admitted you would have to be involved in the race, keep a boat there, or be a guest of someone that is docked there. If you rent a well you will need to bring all your guests in by boat. I hope that helps.

Dean on the LSCN, someone just asked if you still need volunteer boats. Something tells me you are going crazy, you have done a great job in record time:cheer: and I bet the pay is tremendous................NOT

No Chit!!

I would be willing to bet Dean has less money to work with than some P Class teams spend in Gas and travel - and hes doing a tremendous job! I know this event wont be a St Clair or Key West but it should be a great time for all at a great location. So when you see Dean thank him, because without his efforts we would not be racing this weekend.

And has anyone booked at Bobbys Bed & Breakfast yet?

Ms PatriYacht 07-17-2008 01:20 PM

I agree, plus he put it together in very short time. I know how this stuff goes, all he will probably hear is the b*tchin:mad:

It seems like you have been helping a lot as well, I wish I was closer and had more time.

fantastixvoyage 07-17-2008 01:22 PM

Agreed Rick! Dean has put on a valiant effort on such short notice. Has the makings to be one of the top venues for next year without a doubt. :ernaehrung004:

Ms PatriYacht 07-17-2008 04:27 PM

Neil, got you message. anything but light, Bush, Molsen, Labatts is fine:drink: just give us a call Sunday in the a.m. and we will hook up, in fact call me on Saturday afternoon so I have your number. see ya
