Triple

Smitty please refresh me one more time. What is the total purse for the triple crown? How many places will it pay down? How many classes will it pay?
Worst case and there is fog or a storm in point Pleasant what happens? What happens if there is a tie for points? Not busting balls, just want details.

MANITIE 08-06-2008 04:08 PM

Then I moving to Class 2......along with the other 55 boats

Wazzup Racing 08-07-2008 08:52 AM

The prize purse, will be paid to the top three positions, over 8 classes. 50% 30% 20% is the breakdown, according to the rule book.

As it stands right now we are at 22,000 a class. The 125,000 in Geico money is there, we are still raising the balance on our end.

If in the event of a cancellation. All teams in attendace recieve 50 points.

If there is a tie, we'll settle it at the bar. last man standing wins. Smitty

Wahoo ATV 08-07-2008 08:56 AM

let's hope for a tie!

Thanks Geico,AMF and OPA for offering a great prize purse. The embroidered checkered flags and trophies are great too!Every racer, crew member and fan should have thier insurance through Geico. We need to continue to support the companies that are supporting us.I made sure that when I became a Geico customer; I told the sales representative it was because of thier involvement with offshore powerboat racing.

You are absolutely right. I did exactly as you did when they first got involved with Offshore. We can not take sponsors and fans for granted.

Thank you for bringing that out again.

It's political

MANITIE 08-07-2008 11:32 AM

1 waterboay.....I agree 100% with you....we need to appreaciate of all sponsors that help our sport....GEICO and Haggin have done great things for the sport...along with Citron and others....we need to be thankful of there involvemnt....times are tough...people are lossing there jobs all over...but yet we still have prize money and sponsor putting up money.....we have a good thing here....and even racers that are now getting involved to have races and keep them going like Louie dose putting on the L.I. race and Dean jumping in and keeping Harrison going.....sometimes we only focus on the bad things and forget all the good things that are sport brings us.....we have a really great thing here....

AugiePensa 08-07-2008 11:37 AM

Thanks for the input as to where we are today. Not sure what you mean by political? I just wanted to clear up some questions people have been asking. If this thread offends someone post it and I will remove it.

The thread is fine Mr Schleuss.....I was referring to someone else. By the way, call me back !!!

Ryan Beckley 08-07-2008 12:34 PM

I do apologize, there was noting politically motivated just reading through all of the jokes and missed Smitty's post. I am sorry , didn't mean to ruffle feathers. To answer the question posed to me, NO I will not be racing in this series, the P-class structure doesn't work for me. I did it already and got spanked. I'll keep running where I am and getting spanked by like boats........I too just insured my new car with GEICO.

Thank you so much for answering, but can we get an OFFICIAL points update also. I know Rick tried doing it based off rule book, but I would prefer to see something official as to make my decision to come up there especially after my mechanical pop ups b4 Ocean City. Saw it posted that boats like myself recieved last place points. Is this true? Just like Randy, I could care less about politics(I let Frank worry about the small stuff) Just have to make some informed decisions for my team in the next couple of days.

Thanks,
Trent

Trent,

Only boats that were paid up and pre-registered by the deadlines for the Ocean City race and ran into mechanical failures that kept them from getting to Ocean City were going to get last place points and treated as if they had attended.

If you fall into that scenario, then yes you have last place points and are in the running for the triple crown.

That is they way I understood it from the drivers meeting the morning of the race.

For final clarification though, contact OPA.

I am only a photographer..... :drink:

Thanks once again,

Trent
