P- Class boat?

In anyones expert opinion which would make a better race boat in the late 80s early 90s speed range:

Stagerd Gladiator or 34 Phantom..

Thanks, Frank

Phantom....

Ummmmm.....I am not the Cigarette expert but I don't think there is a staggered Gladiator????? Or Phantom for that matter.

BRUCE SEROFF 09-05-2008 01:23 PM

I think I've seen staggered gladiators (pleasure version). Dont think Phantoms are staggered either.

I think they are similar in speed with equal power. I have only seen side by side phantoms and pleasure staggered gladiators.

Simmons Racing is a Phantom and competes in class 4.
Both were originally designed and built for F2

I know the 34' Phantom is side by side and The Gladiator initially was side by side and then later was available staggered. I've never ridden in either but the twin engine boats I have driven and ridden in the staggered set-ups seem to fly straighter with less trim, and with the more centerline thrust are a little faster... The Phantom has a narrower beam which I think would give it a better ride in the rough stuff.... Notice I said "I think".... Far from an expert..

Frank, They are both nice. The Glad is bigger, longer and taller. Ultimately you should ride in them both.
