MIA's in St. Clair

Just a little disappointed in the fact that so many regulars that show up in St. Clair went missing this year. I understand the times are tough and I hope that is the reason for the lack of teams that showed this year. I always thought that teams loved our setting and facilities and hope that is not the reason for sitting out this years event. With all the hype of OSS and OPA joining forces for this race we all were excited to see the numbers that used to show for this race but never materialized. We kind of hoped that with Harrison and Michigan City scheduled close that teams would make all 3 races. Just hope that OSS and OPA continue to put differences aside and race together. If they could get SBI to race here that would be quite a show also. Anyway, my hats off to all the race teams that did show and the enjoyable action that we did see and hopefully the economy will improve and teams will once again try to make it to our race venue.

I thought 49 boats was a pretty good turn out?

StClairRaceFan 08-03-2009 11:42 PM

49 boats was less than in past years was all I was saying. Everyone around town just thought that with OSS and OPA combining for this race we would have more boats show than did. Our disappointment was not with the boats that did show but the teams that have been coming here for years that sat out the race.

psmith 08-04-2009 05:22 AM

Who was there from OSS????

fastedy 08-04-2009 06:23 AM

Outrageous should make the rest of the races, starting a new bussiness keep us from MI.

HighPriority 08-04-2009 08:28 AM

We wanted to race StClair real bad, but did not have the money to do so. I sure hope things turn around soon so we can get to all the races. St Clair is one of the best sites out there, and the people are GREAT too.

Wahoo ATV 08-04-2009 08:29 AM

Living in St Clair myself, I must say the 49 boat turnout was fantastic. That is probably 3 times more than a few other sites have seen or will see this year.

Some big teams are short on $ and/or have busted up boats, others have lost sponsorship. It would be nice to see them again, but the teams that did make it are the blue collar teams that bust their azzes to make the event and put on a great show. These are the teams that will make it through this ecomony and keep the sport alive.

We would have loved to be in St Claire as it is one of our favorite venues and Bluewater puts on a great event. The decision to retire the MTI after doing some glass damage in Sarasota is the only reason we did not make it. Rather than continue to run the MTI and keep patching her together, we decided to put forth 100% effort in finishing the Mystic wich has taken our team all month @ 7days a week to do. We look foward to St Claire next year and really missed you all this year

skaterdave 08-04-2009 08:39 AM

well guys, great job for all those that made it. i'm sorry i wasn't able to get out there and support my friends and club with the skiffs and garveys. but i have to say the people i talked too said they had a great time and that St Clair is one of the best sites, if not the best. i also wanted to point out the just look at the situtation that this country is in and seeing that smitty, opa, and oss were able to pull almost 50 boat together to race is awesome and to do it WITH OUT any govt. bailout.

race on guys, see ya in patchgue NY

DareDevil 08-04-2009 08:44 AM

I wish i could of been there also ,,,,,but NOW i will maybe just quit the way all this goes.

Maybe be back next year.
Great job to all that made it .

Hi Augie!

Glad to hear that you are healing up and don't come back to soon, even though we would love to see you racing again, your health comes first. For a second I thought that I saw you from a distance at St. Clair but it turned out to be Billy Martin Sr. Get well soon.

DriverofDonzi 08-04-2009 11:03 AM

Augie,

I was hoping to see you at St. Clair but when I didnt see you there, I knew myself that you need to focus on your health. Get better and prepare for St. Clair 2010!!!!

Miss you!

Chris

The St. Clair race was great. I woked the race(s) on Sunday and thought it was a great show. I was there Saturday with the family and a few of the grandkids, we had a blast. In my opinion the set up in St. Clair rivals Key West. See ya'll at the worlds in November can wait to see that race again.

Ron P 08-04-2009 12:23 PM

Miss ya Augie!

AugiePensa 08-04-2009 03:02 PM

Too confusing ,if the oss letters are not dropped how do fans know you just wont screw us again with another boycott in ocean city this year ? Really ?

WHM-No, Fury-No, Motley Crew-No, Popeyes-No, just to name a few, and these boats have showed before the merger- What gives? Still bad blood?

AugiePensa 08-05-2009 10:19 AM

Sit back and ENJOY whatever we can put together in this economy. The only BAD BLOOD is between me and my fuc$ing Doctors! Now, the teams that want to race and have fun with no BULL$HIT will come race, just look at St. Clair this past weekend. I got a lot of reports all weekend how great it was. Smitty and Louie are doing a great job with Evil "Puffy" Ed and the rest of the crew. I feel what gives is lack of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

mesablue 08-05-2009 10:39 AM

Even though times a tough and some boats decided to sit out this year or some races or are under repair or whatever, it still was a great event in St Clair as always. We are just spoiled here with this venue, and every once and a while boat counts dip for whatever reason. Its all about the $$$$ and there is not much floating around right now. Things will get better. I had a blast in St Clair, and so did my 7 month old boy. He got all excited when the big cats went by. THATS MY BOY LOL!!!

DriverofDonzi 08-05-2009 11:29 AM

My 3 year old daughter Jennifer had so much fun with this boat racing and all these events....She had so much fun with Tony (BY RIDER)'s 4 year old daughter Olivia!!!!

AugiePensa 08-05-2009 03:02 PM

Man I gotta THANK everybody, all the teams, everyone that helped out. Without you all we could never put on a show. It's all about the racers!

SVL4 08-05-2009 04:47 PM

I can only speak on behalf of Popeyes Racing.
There is no bad blood between our race team and NO Organization.
We wished we could have attended and had all intentions until the last minute. Due to personal reasons we had to make the tough call and not attend.
We thought the race was a great success and wish all our brothers racing a safe season.

Wil

TeamSaris 08-05-2009 07:20 PM

Too far for us..be at all the others though

phragle 08-06-2009 12:53 AM

St Claire was a blast, good turnout, good racing, good festivities, if this didn't measure up to someones idea of perfection, then somebodies just a sparkling ray of sunshine aren't they..........

BobbyB 08-06-2009 07:05 AM

I wish i could have made it up this year.
