Class designation

Hello all. New to this and trying to do a little information gathering. In the 600 class with the speed of 70 MPH does the boat have to limit out or can it run faster? So I guess I'm asking is that a speed limit verified by GPS? How does all that work?

All boats carry a GPS tracker. At the end of the race the GPS is turned over to race officials to determine it there are any "breakouts". You cannot go above the bracketted limit.
What boat do you have? Any chance of you making the Solomon Island race?
Keep posting on here if you have any questions or just ask any of the racers-they are more than happy to help! or check: www.OPAracing.org

I did the exact same thing as you are doing right now by asking questions about each classes....As time goes, I have learned so much about each class and now have the knowledge of the differences in each class.

All teams are awesome and they are willing to ask questions. Good luck!

Boat

I have a 1995 Hallett 300 but no racing boat. Looking to find a project of something relatively inexpensive to get started. I would like to stay in the 600 class to learn. this is something I've always wanted to do but didn't have the money. Its nice to know you can race and not spend a fortune. Ill keep in touch. Any deals let me know.

Does it matter what kind of boat you race? If you can not find a racer can you turn a sport boat into one?

Yup.
I suggest you come to an event/talk to the teams/see how they are run, to get a better idea of what the deal is.

Also keep in mind there are limitations to the boat you can run in each class. No boats over 26 feet in length and no boats with twin engines may compete in this Class 600
