What are the maximum number of laps in Class 5 this year?

It's not really based on lap count.

I just went through some of my paperwork, Class 5 averages approx. 36 miles a race.

Here are examples from some of the sheets I was able to find:
2010 Solomons: Course= 4.03 miles w/ 9 laps
2010 Orange Beach: Course= 6 miles w/ 6 laps
2010 Patchogue: Course= 5.6 miles w/6 laps
2011 St Clair: Course= 4 miles w/ 9 laps

6 laps whould be 36 miles if 6 mile race site?

yeah we usually fuel for 45 miles

Oh yeah, OPA usually does a "parade" lap as well

Everything always depends on the weather, what the Coast Guard suggests and Smitty's final decision. That's the best we can tell ya till race day but give Smitty a call at 732-910-8025. Thanks, Augie
